OT: Politics & News... Have at it.

I don't think so. Rick Santourum won the Iowa caucus last time. Super Tuesday is the decider and they're mostly large industrial states.

The US electoral system is just bizarre. How much money, visits, attention has poured into Iowa for the first caucus? I should open a TV station there as they must get boatloads of money every 4 years. Clearly the plan is try to get off to a good start by winning Iowa but all this attention leading up to the caucus vote is completely forgotten when Super Tuesday comes and really establishes who is in the running for the leadership.

Is Iowa part of the bible belt because this has to be the only reason Santourum and Huckabee keep trying to become President?

Surely you aren't saying govt should consider how athletes like tax proposals.

I worry more about doctors leaving for the States...we already have a problem with lack of physicians, now this might make it worst.

Basically, med students get an almost free education here, and then they can choose to leave (well it's not as simple as that, but you get the idea)

New Liberal tax hike could affect star athletes signing with Canadian based teams:

Don't worry, it's socialism though, maybe they'll understand if Count explains to them how worth it it will be to pay higher taxes.

This quote contradicts what many on here have said for a long time - re: there are many loopholes in Canada to help get athletes around paying high taxes...

U.S. resident players can claim more deductions, such as their agent fees, property taxes and interest on their mortgage

Once you go through the deductions, there wouldn’t be anywhere in North America as high as Quebec and Ontario,” Simon said.
