I've heard a lot of people mention that nuking the Middle East would be better off for everyone else on the planet. Now they aren't serious and you can't literally nuke one area of the planet without affecting the rest of the planet but their point is that the Middle East has been nothing but death and destruction for as long as anyone can remember.
Heck I have few memories of being a toddler but I still remember playing with my dinky cars when I was around 7 years old in front of my parents as they watched the local news and when the International news segment came on it was always about war concerning Beirut, Isreal, Palestine, Hezbollar, etc. It still goes on today and has only expanded to the rest of the world since then thanks to terrorism.
The US and Japan were against each other in the 40's but became best allies by the 80's... yes that is a simplified answer to the US dropping the atomic bombs forcing Japan into surrendering but they still managed to be best buds years later. Even the IRA and the British have calmed down the violent acts that were going on for years but the Middle East problems just fester on and on like a black hole.
Syria right now is a playland for the biggest manufacturers of weapons on the planet with the likes of Russia, the US, Syria, the Coalition and ISIS all testing their new toys. What a mess.
No one has the answer for over there so wiping it all out and starting over pops into one's head even if that is never going to happen.
