OT: Politics & News... Have at it.

Bernie Sanders
If we're ser*i*ous about cli*mate change, we can’t just talk the talk, we've got to walk the walk and take on power*ful special interests.

Disallowance is in the constitution but is never used.

So, since JT campaigned on REAL change, fairness and equality. He should disallow BILL 101 which is completely oppressive to anglophones in Quebec. It goes without saying that should be one of the first things he attends to, or at least pressures quebec into repealing it.

We are talking about domestic policy, something JT can do, not something he can't do.

Are you sure? Seems to me that

Exclusive Powers of Provincial Legislatures.

92. In each Province the Legislature may exclusively make Laws in relation to Matters coming within the Classes of Subject next hereinafter enumerated; that is to say,--

....

7. The Establishment, Maintenance, and Management of Hospitals, Asylums, Charities, and Eleemosynary Institutions in and for the Province, other than Marine Hospitals.

....

8. Municipal Institutions in the Province.

....

9. Shop, Saloon, Tavern, Auctioneer, and other Licences in order to the raising of a Revenue for Provincial, Local, or Municipal Purposes.

....

13. Property and Civil Rights in the Province.

.....

16. Generally all Matters of a merely local or private Nature in the Province.

Seems to me that Bill 100 falls under those areas that are provincial, not federal power.

I'm pretty sure Bill 101 is also partly in force due to the notwithstanding clause, so there's another reason why the feds couldn't trample over it, even if they didn't like it and wanted to lose every seat in Quebec in the next election.

Well even if Trudeau can't directly, he's definitely able to talk to Couillard. He can do something, let's not pretend he's powerless. Some of our basic freedoms of speech are being trampled on here. If JT truly is set on real change, he can start right here in Quebecistan.

It has been in effect for almost 40 years. I don't disagree with you that the law is a gross violation of human rights but it is what it is. No Quebec govt that wants to stay in power will change it. No federal party wants to risk having to face the 3rd Neverendum so it won't push for any change. You sound like one of the angryphones who posts on the FB English language rights group.

I'm an angryphone because I believe in equal rights? If my rights weren't suppressed I wouldn't be angry now would I. You don't know what it's like because you don't live here. Take a look at this BS:

Bill 101 isn't going anywhere. Even if you could convince the hardliners that it is the chief reason why Quebec's economy is in the toilet they still wouldn't want to scrap it. It's an article of faith to them and to federalist politicians its repeal is a non-starter. If you want to win elections you need votes in Quebec and the voters in Quebec are predominantly francophone. And after four decades of PQ propaganda in the school curriculum most people have grown up being told that Bill 101 is essential. Quebec anglos have always been seen by federal politicians as "dead ducks"; people who are expendable because their votes don't matter. The clear message to anglos is "if you don't like it, move"

But your posts say Muslims... you dont define it as radicals only.. the way you wrote it looks like you are talking about all

There are 3 categories of muslims:

1) The one just carry the name, like majority of Iranians, in and out of countries
2) There are some traditional religious, which doesn't matter where they live, who is running countries, they have their beliefs. Some of them have potential to go harcore, specially young ones.
3) There are some hardcore radicals or better to say opportunist who pretend to be religious but don't know anything from religion and don't know even one page of Quran!

I talk about some of second and all of 3rd categories, hope it more clear this time!!!!
