OT: SQUIRRELS ARE NOT YOUR FRIENDS

As pesky as squirrels can be they can be fascinating to watch. I live in the downtown area in an area with lots of very old large trees, old low-rise appt. mixed in very old houses (lots of hidding places for the little creatures) and newer townhomes.
Watching the squirrels chase each other up and down the trees can be quite entertaining. They can be quite inventive too. They have developed a safe way to cross back and forth across the street using what we call the squirrel highway. Up the tree or telephone/hydro post, along the wires and across the wires to the other side of the street. No worries about having to dodge traffic.
However, the are not always too clever when it comes to hiding their food treasures. I’ve seen them hide some on the crossbars of our fence or on the ledge at our front door only to have another squirrel come along and steal it. The best though was one time the little fellow hid a cookie behind the license plate on a car only to have our neighbour come out and drive off.
