OT: The M-Fing Food Thread

While I agree in the moral of the argument in the tweet above, they miss a fairly fundamental issue with health care in general regarding why doctors (and pharmaceutical researchers) research treatments for lifestyle issues, and don't just simply tell people to do shit differently in their lives. Because when doctors do this, their patients don't listen very often and without some sort of additional medical intervention, the problem just gets worse.

So people are going to keep eating American cheese because melty and *they're dumb.

*fuck you Preston

doctors need to take more notes from dentists. I dunno how they pulled it off but they have most people practicing preventative dental care on a daily (or more) basis. my hygienist recently converted me into a daily flosser and boy oh boy was I grateful for that at my last cleaning.

Because flossing is easy, and jogging is hard

Whole foods are always the better option of course; way more nutritionally dense (the processing process can remove plenty of those nutritional benefits) and just cleaner without crap like added sugars and whatnot. But more importantly it's all about calorie intake and the convenience of processed products and how addicting (and calorie dense at times) they make them is resulting in a lot of over-eating, which leads to the obesity epidemic. That's the main issue with processed foods because it's so damn easy to over-consume these products that are often as addicting as fucking crack (no I cannot eat just one chip, Lays). A lot of the other health claims out there have not yet been proven in human studies especially when eating these things in moderation but the issue of over consumption is dire enough on its own to be concerned.

my hygienist has me next level

electric water flosser
Remineralising tooth paste
quick dry brush before using paste
Fluoride enhanced meth

My main issue nutritionally is that alcohol can be filling but provides few of the nutrients a body needs to thrive.

I think that most of prestos takes are generally shit but his foodisms are bang the fuck on.

Any views/thoughts about Ooni pizza ovens?
I don't have one but know some folks who do. It does a very good job. Good if you have pizza often. For someone like me I fear it would collect dust as a borderline unitasker. Then again it's not unreasonably priced so I'll probably end up with one at some point knowing me.

Probably good for searing steaks too actually but I have no experience with that.
