I think Nick gave us a pretty good idea of who is in and out with his minutes distributions.

The biggest surprises for me is that it looks like Champagnie and Banton are legit part of his team.

The one guy in the top 15 there that might have played his way out of a spot is Gillespie. They might try and see if Ish can handle the 5 spot defensively in his place but I wouldn't be surprised to see us add another C from outside the org before the season starts to take Gillespie spot.

I would guess Dekker and Ish stick around due to injuries but beyond that they're going to have to hope Champagnie and Banton need more work in the G league.

Trade Trent

Dekker: 1yr, 1.78million. 350K guaranteed if he's waived before the first game of the season. Full guarantee if he's not waived by then.

Ish: 2 yr with a QO for a 3rd year: .925 this season, 1.563 next season, 2.055 QO yr 3. 250K guaranteed.

Here's how the raps rate by player:

VanVleet +3.6raptor, +8.2war

Anunoby +1.9raptor, +5.3war

Siakam +0.8raptor, +4.4war

Boucher +1.5raptor, +3.3war

Flynn +0.1raptor, +1.9war

Trent -1.1raptor, +1.6war

Dragic -0.9raptor, +1.1war

Birch -1.1raptor, +1.0war

Bonga -0.7raptor, +0.9war

Scottie -1.9raptor, +0.8war

Achiuwa -1.5raptor, +0.6war

Watanabe -1.4raptor, +0.5war

Mykhailuk -2.0raptor, +0.4war

Dekker -1.7raptor, +0.2war

Wainright -1.9raptor, +0.1war

Banton -2.5raptor, +0.0war

Johnson -3.3raptor, -0.1war

So their model currently projects both Scottie and Precious to be pretty much terrible this year. Not surprising given typical rookie impact and Precious awful underlying numbers last year (-3.4 raptor).

So if one or both of those kids pops this year into a legit positive-impact player in big minutes, that would dramatically ramp up their team projection to much higher than 9th.

I don't think either of those things are going to turn out to be true this season. I think Breakout OG is a thing, and we move from being 2 fringe all stars at the top of the lineup into a 3 headed monster of fringe all stars at the top of the lineup, and I think the kids will oscillate between giving us and the opposition complete fucking fits, but on their way to surprising levels of total impact.

I'm getting early Bench Mob (2016/17 Fred, Delon, Jakob, Norm) type vibes here where we defended and ran opposing 2nd units into the ground a lot of nights.

They just wanted a fresh voice it seems. He will do some games on TSN still. What happened to Leo Rautins on the telecasts ?

Yeah.. .500 assuming no improvement from Siakam or OG, and no impact from Scottie or Precious, is actually a very encouraging projection.

Open Gym is always awesome but this episode is amazing.
