OT: The Official Toronto Raptors Thread

a nice unusual feeling with this canada team.

I tuned in for the last 10 minutes of the first half. They had been trailing to a solid Latvia team (that had beaten france alread) the whole half, and had just gone down 10.....and then immediately went on a run, and took their first lead of the game on the last shot of the 1st half.

the unusual feeling is that once they did that I knew they were going to win, so didn't even watch the 2nd half. And they didn't just win but ended up blowing them out by 26.
 
RJ had a nice bounce back game in that #2 scorer role. We need him to be the good version of himself if we're going to medal.
 
Wow. Terrible game from Canada.
This team should not be losing to Brazil.
Also where are the rest of our players. I didn’t pay much attention while on vacation.
But is there a reason Boucher don’t play for canada?
 
Typical Canada. How many uncontested shots did we miss? Alexander-Nickeil missed at least 4 open 3s. Wasn’t just him.

Credit to Brazil, we played their game. But still. Lame. Left points on the board with some putrid shooting.

- Move on to face the top 2 out of group G which will probably be Spain & Brazil. Spain is 1st in the world and always play better than the roster reads. This is the post Gasol era though. There just isn't a lot of depth of talent there anymore. The Hernangomez boys are probably their best 2 players ffs. Brazil is technically ranked ahead of us, but we should deep dick them as well. Spain would be the coming out party though, whether it's a paper tiger ranking or not. These games still count towards our original group rankings.

- Win the group (Us, France, Lebanon & Latvia) and face the #2 team from Group L (likely either Brazil or Spain....probably Brazil) in knockout quarters.

NAW should be a back of the bench player for a Canadian national team. We're missing half of our A team.
 
I would just be happy with all of our role players....but yeah Wiggins & Murray would be ideal, 100%

We would get a lot of impact just in having a random collection of Boucher, Mathurin, Brandon Clarke, Shaedon, Brisset, Nembhard, Dalano available for the rotation.

If we had actual depth, there's no way NAW is being allowed to go 1/8 from 3 in 25 minutes. If we had Clarke on the roster, Olynyk doesn't get force fed 28 minutes when he's clearly struggling. RJ doesn't get force fed 29 minutes when he's struggling, etc.

Shai is Shai and he's awesome. But this team relies heavy on RJ to be a consistent 2nd scoring option and if he's not and the shots start getting distributed around, we're going to struggle to score.
 
And I believe that’s it for Canada. Great start to the 3rd. But then choked for the last 5 minutes. Terrible to see a nation with such talent always come up short.
