not handsome enough, and too happy
OG will get paid this summer. I just fear it’s not us
man, what was Phoenix thinking with Beal...I get the fear, but there's a good reason OG hasn't signed yet (he's not eligible for a 30% max extension, but is an obvious contender for DPOY, which if he wins it makes him eligible) and I can't see Masai walking him to free agency and not throwing every dollar at him that we're capable of to keep him. Fred and Houston was a bit of a special circumstance imo, where a dogshit young team with a fuckton of capspace was willing to toss 3/145 for a team dad. There's lots of teams that will be interested in OG, but I think there's a much different needle to thread with him. He's been pretty clear in interviews that he wants to stay in Toronto (Fred was way, way more non committal in mid season interviews about his free agency than OG has been), and I don't see him going to a dogshit team for the bag like Fred did. The good teams don't have the 35-40 million that it's going to take to pry him out of here imo (max we can offer him is 4/117 unless he wins DPOY).
- Philly might, but there's a ton of gymnastics they would have to go through I think. They would have to renounce a pile of free agents bird rights to get away from the cap holds, limiting their ability to put a roster around Embiid and Maxey (who is due a rookie max extension this summer as well, and I think...think has to be signed before free agency opens or he can get offer sheeted). I think they could in theory fit Embiid-OG-Maxey in, but that's about 120 million on 3 players, which would leave them with only one other player under contract (Jaden Springer) and only 20 million or so before in cap before they'd have to use their exceptions.
- We know Phoenix loves him, but KD-Booker-Beal is already 150 million on the books next year
- No one is going to convince me that teams who never spend to the cap like Indiana or Orlando are going 40 deep on OG
- Sacto loves him, but doesn't have the cap or budget space without significant moves
- Dallas loves him, but already has 158 million on the books for next season
- OKC is a concern and could make it work, but they already have their own OG in Jalen Williams
Obviously a lot can change in the cap picture with trades through out the season and I can be wrong about OG's willingness to go to a bad team for a bag, but Fred to Houston was a bit of a weird situation where positional need, & rebuild timing w/ 40+ million in cap space laying around just happened to be a thing.

Spurs would need one more draft stud for OG and Wemby to be legitWith all of that said, there's one team I look at their roster and get worried.
San Antonio. They don't quite have the cap to offer OG 35-40 million, but could pretty easily clear it and OG wouldn't have to squint too hard to look at playing for Pop and with Wemby to see contender status within a few years.
