OT: The Official Toronto Raptors Thread

what would we do without all this True C defense here.

You're for real complaining that Jake, in the middle of a 14/17 game isn't getting stops without anything resembling a double against Jokic?

Is there a defensive centre in the league that gets consistent stops against Jokic 1v1?

a. yep
b. yes defensive Cs are useless against elite Cs

Because they're not meant to lock up elite C's. They're the anchor for the rest of your defence. The guy who does the work on the glass closing out good defensive possessions, etc.

So, I think he's going to be pretty pretty good eventually but we're probably in the range of a Pascal Prime type big wing/PF. The low end is an Obi Toppin type at the top of your bench mob. So for the price Golden State would want for him, I don't see it as being worth it. For the same type of draft equity package we could offer, why not just skip the development years and just go pay for Ingram or something similar to what his likely top end is.

I don't like his fit in our group tbh. He doesn't shoot or defend well enough to be the lockdown 3&D type wing we need with this group right now. He doesn't have the guard skills to push RJ to the 3, and Scottie >>> at the 4, which is Kuminga's best position right now.

Also, if Golden State finally does sell on him, they're going to want a win now piece that we don't have.

You make good points, but I was wondering if we could get him relatively cheap? But maybe not? It is not like teams don't over value their propects until it is too late or they have had enough

GSW was allegedly turning down trade opportunities this summer for Lauri Markannen because they included Kuminga. They're not giving him up for anything resembling cheap.
