OT: The Toronto Blue Jays

There is zero reason whatsoever to use Hoffman as a closer.

He was never a closer before. He's been terrible as a closer here.

And our manager might have legit destroyed the guy's career by forcing him to be one of the highest leverage relievers in baseball.

Way to go coach.

His last year in Philly he was a decent fill-in option - good numbers, 10 saves. But there's a difference between being basically a platoon closer vs being the goto guy.

It was worth a shot last year, but we all saw the struggles. They really needed to have gone out and get a legit 1a/1b option. Now, granted, Diaz is hurt, Williams has sucked as much or more than Hoffman. So not like the options were plentiful out there. Suarez would have been great, but even aside him, giving like 2 years to Fairbanks, or being a team coming off a finals run, you might not even have to have overpaid heavily for someone like Helsley.

Rogers is a good middle relief option which the team needed too, but having XXX-Hoffman-Rogers-Varland as your top 4 bullpen arms means you can more or less pair them up and have the 8th and 9th set for you every close game without worrying.
