Haven't come across tonight's lineup yet but Zaitsev is playing his first pre-season game.

Oh boy that's an ugly looking lineup ... who's starting in G? Andersen? He's gotta get lots of shots tonight
 
Buffalo's A squad not looking much better than the B squad.

This group of Leafs look a lot more organized than their first game ... good coaching.
 
It's amazing that even after graduating all the rookies we did last year that we still have Dermott, Kapanen, Grundstrom, Liljegren, Rosen, Borgman, etc. coming. Truly incredible turnaround this organization has made.
 
I know it's pre season...but I'm having a hard time getting used to these empty net goal thingies
 
just don't see any way how marincin can beat out rosen. they're not the same class of player. Carrick actually improved tonight but still struggled badly in the leafs zone. i really am starting to think the three rooks make it. I feel bad for Valiev because he looks good to but just not as good as those 3.

kappy had himself a night.

and fehr may have taken a step towards claiming the 4C spot.
 
Had the same thought about Fehr. He's played well. Certainly better than Moore.

Valiev has looked good too. Encouraging.

Can't see them waiving Marincin and Carrick, though it would not irk me.
 
The Hainsey signing may have been premature. We’ve got a lot of young guys who can play. And extra bodies to trade...but with no immediate need to fill. They could’ve been dealt for a legit top 4 D who could play now. Still can, I guess, but it’s tougher to fit in a body now.

But Leivo, Marincin, Carrick, just to name three, have to go.
 
Yeah leivo has been terrific.

It's funny.. fehr had the worst corsi other than clune at roughly 40%. Dom Moore? A team best 75%. I didn't see the game but I'm a bit surprised some of you prefer fehr. I know corsi isn't everything but thats a pretty major gap.
 
Leivo has been pretty much useless in a scoring role, and is not a good skater.

I do think he'd be a great 4th liner on this team though.
 
this preseason he's been all over the puck and in on all sorts of chances.

he's been a 25gl/50pt pace guy the last 2yrs in the nhl in limited minutes.
 
He’s a goof and a mucker.

He’s not a top 6 player on any team.

He’s a Hyman who has better offensive skills and a shot, but similar bum characteristics and not great defensively.
 
Yeah. If you could combine Hyman's skating and engine with Leivo's shot and puck skills you would have a good player.

Exactly.

But separately, not so much. Hyman gets by on his tenaciousness and ability to fight the battles on the boards and penalty killing and defensive play.

Leivo has none of that really, and is just a one-dimensional player with a shot, and who can't even really score.
