Yeah, Seattle found some traction for a couple of weeks and the Pacific is such a sand pit that they rocketed right into the playoff picture. Good for them, I guess. That 10 game stretch was a pretty comfortable run though. No travel off the west coast and a lot of games against teams teams that are stuck in neutral … or reverse. This will be game one of a 4 game east coast swing for Seattle. A good test of their newfound mettle.

Other than inserting Slavin in the back, there’s no compelling reason for Carolina to change anything. The last three games have gone about as well as you could ask. Here’s hoping that Slavin’s knee also benefitted from his time off, because his mobility was iffy when he last rejoined the lineup. Chatfield is a good partner if he’s still a step slow. Seattle is without Schwartz and Eberle has been dinged up and they should rotate Joey Daccord back into the net. He’s been solid, but Grubauer has been the better goalie in a beefed up backup role. Lane Lambert immediately dispensed with whatever nonsense systems they had been playing and got Seattle playing good old All American trapping hockey like 90% of the rest of the league, which made tending goal for them a much less harrowing experience.

This will be the last low stakes home game against a Western team for a while and it’s Saturday night in Raleighwood. Enjoy.
