SINCLAIR, BALLY SPORTS and WHAT APP WHERE?

yea, I’ll gladly pay ballys $20 and not give spectrum 20 cents. But as long as ESPN is too stupid to fix their vpn issue, I’ll keep watching for free on the espn app.

It appears that Bally Sports+ is doing a soft launch in five mlb markets in a few days. The price is going to come in at $20/month or $190 for an annual subscription. Assuming that the app comes here and has the Canes, you'd have to buy 7 months to get the whole regular season (and that would get you the first round of the playoffs too). So you'd be looking at $140. Seems a bit steep.

There are probably some people for whom this would work. Consider if you get a cable package for $100 just to get the RSN but you could drop down to a $70 package to get most everything else. Probably some others who would like to watch the games but gave it up because they couldn't afford (or refused to pay) a bloated cable package price just to get the RSN.
I really wish St Louis was one of the test markets instead of Kansas City, because I'd be willing to go $20 month to month to test it out on Cardinals games this summer. As it is, I'm picking up Direct TV streaming for the hockey season and then dumping it because I absolutely hate the interface. If the Bally app isn't too buggy, that's going to be a decent option for a lot of us that can't stomach being Spectrum customers anymore.

Are you able to buy the Bally Sports+ for out-of-market access?

The Bally App they had out for last season worked differently for each of my devices (Apple TV, Chrome Cast, RoKu). Fast Forward worked on some and not at all on others. Likewise their ad packages were different on each device. And most of the ads featured South American content or Russian menacing music in a loop for the no-ad "We'll be right back" screen. Awful.

Umm...yeah...no thanks. By the time all of these streaming options are done with this level of pricing you could pay for cable tv.

No Roku interface, no sale ... although it would be far simpler for me than my current setup. I'm NOT getting used to a different streaming device just to play these clods $20 a month to provide what I'm fairly certain will be a glitch as heck service. Add Roku and we'll see.

And FWIW, the internet is filled with people bitching about the price when this is exactly the same price discussed months ago when they announced that the app service would be coming. It's almost like people just enjoy bitching about things on the internet or something.

I'll complain about that too!. and Yes it's the most important past time on the internet along with proving that a person was WRONG on the internet.

It’s cheaper than getting shitty spectrum for hockey season. I’ll see if the vpn trick still works on the espn app before I shell out more money though.

We're a Roku house. Lack of Roku support may push me back to a cable or cable-esque package. If they supported Roku, I'd probably get it because something like YouTubeTV + Bally app is still more appealing than Spectrum

If they don’t release a Roku app, you could always hook an iOS or Android device that has the app to the TV. I had to do that to stream Amazon Prime before we got our Roku.

You can also use Air Play if you use Apple devices, but that can add a layer of glitch to the glitch. I know that personally, unless I'm saving significant money, then I'm willing to add one layer of inconvenience to avoid paying Spectrum money. Nobody is actually saving money anymore and there's no way I'm jumping through any more hoops.

Spectrum appears to have an intro streaming package for $55/month (for 12 months) that appears to include Bally. That beats YouTubeTV + Bally app for sure, but if I know Spectrum, somehow I'll end up paying far more than $55.

I bought that once and did not receive the Bally package. I called to complain and I was told that the Bally package was only included if you got their stupid box. The one that is 20 years behind in tech thsn other companies boxes. So they lost another potential customer with their dumb pricing options. I’ll gladly pay $189 a year to get hurricanes and hornets games. Without it I have to find a way to cheat and get it or pay $60+ a month for spectrum or another streaming site I don’t need.

Oh, you'll pay that $55 ... for 12 months. And then they'll double it. It's been their basic business model for pretty much ever.

Just using it for the 12 months would be the plan. There's no way I'd stay with them past that.

Yeah. Makes sense. Get the one season in and then see what happens. I ended up with AT&T's streaming service that way. I don't like it but at least when they raised the price it was only by a dollar a month.
