The 2019-2020 MotherFucking Season Thread

The dream was that sandin and Liljegren would be ready to take on larger roles.

Turns out, at the moment, they're downgrades on Ceci. It's not an ideal situation. They need a d. And keeping muzzin is quite literally a no-brainer. Even if you hate the guy, they simply have no choice.

Unless they are hunting for a name that is not floating around the media at the moment I would rather wait until the offseason to make that move.

I am not optimistic in Freddy suddenly turning his season around. I expect him to bounce back like most who go through this lull but not any time soon

With the injuries we have if the deals dubas was looking at got more difficult since subtracting kappy would leave us thin on the wing.

For example if we are working om severson or subban then we may need to look at adding simmonds or wood to the deal to offset kappy being part of the deal.

Hard to get a read on what Severson is.

He plays top pairing minutes, on a good deal, CF and XGF are slightly under 50, SCF% is poor at 45% and constantly seems to be coming in under in PDO. But he also seems to lean heavier on dz% starts

I posted the stats a few pages back - those possession numbers are actually quite good relative to team and teammates, against top line competition.

His relative numbers are really good though. Particularly the "defensive" ones.

Last 2 years
Rel CA/60: -1.58
rel CF%: 1.2
rel xGA/60: -0.04
rel xG%: 0.92

Plus his zone exit/puck movement stats are solid.

And like you said, in tough usage. I think a guy like that is the perfect partner for Rielly. What you hoped Hainsey/Ceci could be.

I'd much rather go after someone under the radar like that than pay for the big names out there like Dumba, Manson, Ristolainen, Subban etc. who aren't even that good.

Oh I would say he's likely a clear level higher than any of those names at this point. More than just a level higher than a couple of them.

Is there a reason Timashov is glued to a starting spot? Why not bring Petan back up and hope for a little offensive injection in the bottom 6. He's got 30 pts in 22 games down there.

I wouldn't take out Tima. He's consistently bringing some jam and puckhounding out there. and his p/60 is strong too.

Malgin will be in tonight and I sure hope it's Gauthier coming out.

either Malgin or engvall could be the 4C.

Engvall should be a winger, Kerfoot the 3C, and Spezza Gauthier on the fourth line with Tima. And Tima is a good player, not sure how anyone can’t like what he brings.

It would be a major bummer to lose Kapanen in any trade btw. I would have much rather parted with Johnsson. And I might wait till next season before pulling off any Kappy trade, first to see if we can fill the hole without trading anyone (Pietrangelo), or to use Johnsson in the deal when he’s healthy and has value again. Kapanen is a gamer. Intense and clutch.

It's not that I don't like what he brings, I just feel like we should be rotating some of these bottom 6 guys in and out. Keep them hungry. Its not like our forwards have been world beaters lately.
