But our power-play was still consistently dog-poop quality (relative to our talent level especially) after the Cock left.

Some things that stood out:

1. Rouse was easily our best dman back then, even with no hands. He was actually a fantastic skater, his goal was all smarts, and his assist on Nick's winner was gold.

2. Lidstrom was the complete goat on that game winner. Gave the puck away and then left Nik all alone. I know Lidstrom was a baby still but man he didn't look anything like a future stud out there.

3. The game winning shift was like 9 great extra effort plays leading to that goal. 2 or 3 each by dougie, nik, Wendel, rouse. Just great stuff.

Oh and Borschevsky's postgame interview is the best ever.

that 93 leafs d was so good. No superstars, but 6 solid, physical dmen who were really good defensively.the depth was great.
it's funny, because everyone loves yzerman as an amazing leader. around 93 after almost a decade in the NHL he had a rep as a playoff choker and terrible leader. he was outplayed by Gilmour so bad.

Little Nicky had 74 pts in 78 games that year and was our second leading scorer after Gilmour. Had no idea he had that kind of season.
