The only way you should trade Barrie at this point is if, for some godforsaken reason, you're planning to stick with Babcock as this team's coach for the remainder of this season, or at least for the foreseeable future.

If not, then keep him so we can see what he looks like with a coach who takes his shackles off and plays to his strengths.

So much this.

You'd think ~2ish mill would open up a slew of other backups to us. Any names in mind?
Casey DeSmith.

There's a massive likelihood of Barrie going to Pittsburgh, resigning and then ripping our faces off for the next 5-6 years there though.

Trading a guy with Barries skill set for a career backup is a fireable offence

I expect that from Nonis but I believe Dubas knows what he has in him and may look to use this lull as an advantage to get him signed to a friendly deal

That would be the big dick move if you're firing Mike. Sign him to an extension, let the media warble garble about it for a couple of days and then punt Mike.

Eww.

Punt the coach before we trade Barrie for scraps. Maybe moving Ceci is the play.

Just a few more stinkers like Saturday... Endure it just a bit more and we may just be rewarded.

Oh absolutely. There's very little chance the Goat survives under a new coach. He's terrible. As usual, part of the problem is Babcock's usage of him and instead of turning him into a hard skating forechecker (which he might have actually carved out a role as a decent one) has turned him into a defensive zone "specialist".

Hella number of Leaf fans here. Expect them to take over the crowd tomorrow. Gotta' love the loyalty and dedication despite this team's start and recent history that the fans travel this well.

Gaudreau has a 948 PDO and a 7.9sh% vs 12.5% career

Marner for Gaudreau and expiring deals. Make it happen

I feel a bit bad for Zach Hyman too in some ways. He's going to go from the adopted son and ideal hockey player back to a 3rd line grinder again. could be a shock to the system.
