The Mother-fucking goddamn Off-season Thread

Every experienced guy that will ever be mentioned will come with their fair share of baggage. A newbie or assistant GM comes into things with a clean record, but let's be honest.. they're largely a mystery box. Not a single name makes me all that horny other than Tulsky really and even with him, we don't really know what his record is exactly being the assistant GM and all (although it does seem like he has a HUGE amount of say there and Waddell is just a face/negotiator.. but we don't know for sure).
If he’s a weirdo nerd then he might need a face / negotiator. Are there any interviews with him? He looks like a guy who has given an awkward and jilted Ted talk.

Stay tuned for the next episode of “Days of our Leafs”.

This team turned into a shit show the day Granpa Lou left, lol.

it's easy when you do nothing but inherit a few super elite ELC players.

the Isles are a very nice shitshow now tho. imagine the leafs were actually an old capped out non-playoffs team.

Yeah I'd be a bit surprised if Shanny goes in the Tulsky direction tbh. Ultimately you want a guy who delegates and listens to the right people and prioritizes the right things. The grunt work is done by the GM's staff. Shanny will likely prioritize a guy who can manage them in the way he wants them to be managed.

Who do you guys want?
Someone who recognizes that they're not smart. In the earlier days, that was Yzerman and Sakic. They're just ex hockey players, not super hockey geniuses. They need to understand that and listen to people smarter than them. That's what makes all GMs good. Look at Waddell.. In Atlanta he did shit on his own and he was a disaster, now he just takes orders from the nerds and he looks great.

Now I don't know who that person is, it's hard to know without being in a room with these people managing teams. So there is my non-answer. I don't know. At all.

Preferences:

1. from a successful organization
2. from an organization with good nerdies and contract efficiencies
3. someone that comes across as a leader that commands respect

do any of the names fit that bill?

Darche isn't ready. A lot of articles on that when the Habs were looking even by the French media.

Someone from Boston. Implement the system.

Also, Bergevin showed me that a middling player that becomes a GM might have a soft spot for middling players.
