The Mother-fucking goddamn Off-season Thread

The Leafs have a coach under contract. I would assume that Keefe will be behind the bench at the start of the year, and will remain there until the next GM decides otherwise.

That said, I don't expect Keefe to be behind the bench when the playoffs start.

If he starts the season, he likely finishes the season. This group is probably too good to get a coach fired mid season at this point.

Well, they were basically a 500 team hen babs was fired and had just rattled off 6 straight losses, with the players clearly unhappy with the coach.

don’t think that’ll happen with an in it’s prime core and a coach who they like.

Idk, if they start like they did last year or the year before he's probably gone. If they keep him it would be with a short leash. Which, yeah, I would prefer they just cut bait immediately. But I wouldn't say him getting fired mid-season is impossible. This team has had some horrific stretches over the years, enough to get a coach fired.

When the Leafs acquired Schenn at the trade deadline, there were very brief conversations about a possible extension on his two-year deal ($850,000 AAV).

Even though those conversations took place with the Dubas-led regime, you wonder if there’s still a road for him to return to Toronto.

Former Flames GM Brad Treliving is considered one of the frontrunners for the job and it’s believed Treliving is a fan of the defenceman and tried to acquire Schenn at multiple trade deadlines.

If Treliving ends up being the GM Shanahan hires, and if he is presented with the option to sign Schenn to an extension, there is at least some genuine familiarity with the player.

What kind of number would Schenn be looking for, though?

Schenn is 33. Before his last deal, he had been on three straight one-year contracts. He may be looking for something longer than a one-year deal at around $2 million per year.

Dude’s been making close to the NHL minimum for five straight seasons now and three of his past four contacts have been one year deals.

But yeah, since we’re talking about the Leafs, obviously they should at age 33 give him approximately double what he’s made in any single season since 2016 and also sign him to a multi-year deal.

It was great seeing Schenn finally develop into what everyone thought he could be when drafted but it was likely lighting in a bottle that wont be replicated on a multi year deal

Wouldn't really care if it was a 1 or 2 yesr deal as long as its at league min. Worst case is he gets the Simmonds treatment and sent to the Minors

I guess they need a #7. But really, Lilly and Timmins should play a lot and I still think they need a Muzz replacement.

Yes, I'm kidding people.
What's the over/under in days until Edmonton signs Keefe after he's let go anyway? Presto?
