What are you drinking/last thing you drank?

With my chicken wrap for lunch, I tried a new brew by local Westside favs, Smog City. A "double hoppy red ale" (?) called "California Love", it was quite delicious (though at 7.7% ABV, it packed a surprising wallop).

Today for lunch, I went for an old standby, the Damnation (Belgian Strong) by Russian River. They never set a foot wrong.

I've yet to have my coffee this morning, so the last thing I drank was this last night

Black Tuesday 2020 reduced.jpg

So this is a bourbon-barrel aged stout, with notes of crème brûlée and fig. Didn't notice the malted milk balls or licorice that the website mentioned. Shared this with the wife.

Oh, did I mention that last year's release (annual release information here) was 19.3% ABV. I drank it in 3.5 hours, and yes it is better as it warms slightly.

At Paperback Brewing in Glendale this evening, after the flight I enjoyed, I ended it with a brand new Imperial Stout called Death by Chocolate. They roast it with cocoa nibs, coconut and almonds. Decadent, and just awesome.

Went to a car show last night, it's amazing how many buckets of beer you can go through in an evening.
The Oktoberfest I went to last month? If I'd purchased the goblet (10 oz) instead of the freebie taster glass (4 oz), I think I might have passed out after 160 oz of beer instead of 64! 😉

Tonight I enjoyed a new one, a pastry stout made by Uinta in Salt Lake City called Peppermint Patty. Tasted just like it sounds: sweet, minty and chocolaty. Good stuff!
