but for Habs fans to have 12.5% odds at the 1st pick if they lose to Pit or if this RTP doesn’t take off is a huge win.
the key is that this will not be weighed lottery, all teams will have the 12.5% odds.

how do teams like LA, Tampa, Canes (and others) go through cycles of being elite, then tanking and drafting franchise stud players, and then back to elite again, and then tanking and getting more elite players again.

while we are stuck in the middle...

oh yes, then there’s Edmonton-Buffalo-Florida that are the complete opposite

But if one of the teams ahead pick the goalie Askarov another good skater will drop to #9
