OT: American Politics

you sure you want to compare the number of dead americans under each president?

We both know what's coming. After it's made clear that more Americans were killed under the last president, the disdain will turn against the manner in which they died. "but not like this," will be the new axe thrown at Obama.

No, you can't. You cannot unequivocally say what would have happened. To say you can is ludicrous. As I said, You can make an intelligent guess, you can think that is what would have happened but it is impossible to know 100% for sure. Impossible. Unless you were on that show Sliders in the 90's.

So, in a nutshell, since I can't travel time, there's no way I can say that what happened was expected, and would have occurred no matter who won.
But in hindsight, you're saying that it's possible it would have been different with a McCain / Palin admin?
Who's travelling time now?

Ann Romney said on Thursday that she did not want her husband, Mitt, the Republican nominee for president, to seek the White House again this year and added that if he loses on Nov. 6, the former Massachusetts governor will retire from politics.

“He will not run again -- nor will I do anything like that,” Ann Romney said on ABC’s “The View.”

“This was a very hard thing for me to decide to go forward again … for the family to have to go through this,” Romney also said. “The children have a hard time with it. I have a hard time with it. And yet I felt as though there was something my husband could offer this country that was uniquely his, that he could bring better economic hope and prosperity to women and men and all Americans.”
A glimmer of hope?

its easy to see what happened habsy. the hopeychangers arent stupid. they know its the fall, in a presidential election year. they knew something like this would be political dynamite in the closing stages of a campaign, and they knew it hit them in an area they are vulnerable in. its easy to see why the decision would be made to spin this, hide this, lie about this and try to hold on for just a few more weeks until AFTER the election. well, they were caught, and now its a major campaign issue.

The bill kills off tribunals that examined things such as hazardous materials in the workplace and set rates for employment insurance premiums, while making workers pay taxes on their employers' contributions to group health and accident insurance plans.

It also sharply reduces project approvals required under the Navigable Waters Act, sets time limits on worker complaints under the Canada Labour Code and makes more changes to a dramatically different Environmental Assessment Act.

A number of other measures in the omnibus bill are entirely new, including the end of the EI premiums board and changes to the definition of an aboriginal fishery.

Looks like the OmniBus bill has introduced some snake oil...

what's emabarassing are these desperate attempts by the right to discredit this debate.

when Obama lost the first debate, you didn't hear all this pathetic whining and complaining. In fact, the left jumped all over Obama.

The only thing I read on here was "liar, he's a liar, he lied, did you hear that lie, bold faced liar, what a lie, big liar, fat liar" ad nauseum.

I'm saying "possible", you're claiming something "unequivocally". Ask yourself whose position is more out there?

If you want to talk reality another 4 years of Obama won't work. Simply because the GOP won't work with him. The government has atrophied. They can't even pass a budget, three years without one.

Well isn't this a kick in the teeth.

Just when Obama was annihilating Romney.

Could see a change in November after all. I'm so indifferent at this point as Obama has proven to be such a bust they could just toss a coin to decide.

I will not pretend to be unbiased towards Obama but this is exactly the point. Against a stronger GOP candidate he'd be getting smeared right now. He has not been the President some here like to portray him to be. He has been pedestrian at best. Now people like to exonerate him because of the bad bad GOP people, those ugly, filthy , evil bigots. The truth is there has always been two parties fighting each other. Clinton had to deal with a GOP run congress and they fought him tooth and nail yet he managed to get things done. He put a stop to Dessert Storm II that Bush Senior had every intention of doing and got jobs and economy going. Obama failed to do so and it is all the GOP's fault, not his failure as a leader that can work both sides of the aisle. I am far from democrat but can admit Clinton did his job and did it well. Obama? Not so much. THIS is why Obama is having trouble putting Romney away, his record is nothing to write home about.

Yours.
All seven of the other G8 nations also slipped in their ratings, and none of them had Obama either. To even suggest for a second that there was a "possibility" that it wouldn't have happened if not for Obama, given that G8 record, is just not logical.
Nobody could have prevented the decreased rating after a recession of that magnitude.

well, habsy's link up there shows my boy mitt leading for the first time.

look. i still think if i had to bet my house on who wins in nov., it'd be hopeychange. but this election is very much in play now and it sure as hell isnt a slam dunk. never was. and its even less so now. if mitt can make barry eat his lunch on monday, hopeychange could be a goner.
