So about 5 years ago I started a thread about changing careers....well today is my first real interview since I began that journey.
I graduate from UW on the 13th of June and hopefully have a job lined up after today....in the field that I focused on as well, which is particularly rewarding. Hopefully you guys are looking at the newest hydrogeologist in training! The company is literally 300 m from my front door and they specialize in cleaning up brownfields and fuel spills.
Oh and also after 6 months of trying, my better is pregnant. 6 weeks along, early but feel good that we can get to this point, wasn't easy.

Wow well done man. Not everybody can pick up, go back to school, start over and have things turn out as well as you have.

Thanks all....job interview went really well - just have to wait to hear but I think it might pan out.
I've applied to over 40 places and have a hard time believing that these online job applications find their way to the right people...the only time I hear back is if I physically hunt someone down. Crazy.

If you're in the area and apply online I bet it hurts your chances. If I'm hiring and someone who lives in the area applies online rather than coming down in person I'd probably think they're either lazy or don't care about the job that much.
Someone from out of town... well that's different.

apply online and find out who to call before or after you apply
ask them a few questions about the job
