Those shirtless putin shots remind me of this soo much

He's making the political novice mistake of assuming that those who are strongly in favour of pot legalization will gravitate towards him in a federal election due to his stance on this issue.

Unfortunately for Justine, pot legalization is not a wedge topic and those most in favour of legalization tend to be those who don't vote at all.

Setting aside Trudeau's motivations, and the question of whether or not his stance will be a winner at the ballot box, does anyone around here actually think that Trudeau is wrong and the Conservatives are right on the issue of marijuana legalization?

Most young Conservative Party supporters that I know (myself included) are all in favour of legalization. As Mindz mentioned in another thread, this is one of those generational divides that has already been decided.

The only thing left to happen is for the aging Boomers in power to fade into the limelight and let the next generation inherit the reigns. Once they do so it's only an inevitability before marijuana is government-run and taxed, the objections of the octogenarians be damned.

It will be legalized ultimately.

I can barely fathom the hypocrisy of a society that loves it's booze so much coming down so hard on pot. Every freaking one of those conservatives that drink and are against pot should have to smoke a doobie, so they can finally realise it's much ado about nothing.

I can totally see why people would want it legalized, however, being through rehab and learning about the drug, I can see why people wouldn't as well.

At the end of the day I am for it being legalised and government run like the LCBO. I cannot show up to work drunk, people cannot show up to work high. If you smell like weed or you smell like booze, you are in trouble.

Tories drink.

Grits ****.

Dippers get high.

That's just how it is. :lol

the big pharm lobbies know that weed could take a big bite out of pharmaceutical sales. we all know that every joint you smoke, every long hit, etc, makes you healthier.

it's the same type reason hemp was banned. the plantation lobbyists shut it down because it was a superior product and they'd have gone bankrupt.

The irony here is that it was "dat old guy from Shawiningan" who almost got it done. We were literally days away from it finally getting done, when some young Tory named Stephen won the election. It was the first thing he nixed, after forgiving the Americans the illegal duties they collected on our softwood for years.
