It's a shame that Bouchard killed her chances in the match with her first serve. If she had controlled it, she would have won the second set and who knows what would have happened in the third.

Oh well, that's how it goes.

Nerves and Li Na's fantastic play got the better of Genie in the first set.

She did better in the second set: needs more experience and a better serve! At least she made it competitive at times!

But Li Na too good! Just made her third AO final!

I like how Li told the Chinese tennis fed. to shove it regarding taking 65 per cent of her winnings. She now only pays 8 per cent to them.

TORONTO - Canada's Genie Army supporters came together for her historic 2014 Australian Open match Wednesday night. Overnight data from BBM Canada confirms that a total of 4.4 million unique viewers watched rising Canadian star Eugenie Bouchard's semifinal match against China's Li Na on TSN, RDS, and RDS2.

The highly-anticipated match drew a record average audience of 1.5 million viewers to TSN (988,000), RDS (365,000), and RDS2 (182,000) - making it the most-watched Australian Open match ever on Canadian television.*

I doubt they counted Burg and I who were watching online.

It makes me laugh a little though because Sportsnet has been covering tennis for the past couple of years, picking up telecasts of Raonic and the Davis Cup... mostly because they had no hockey to fill their time slots but here is TSN getting massive ratings for tennis and the future is bright with 3 Canadians now now in contention on the singles circuit.

Not sure if Sportsnet still gets the tournaments in between grand-slams or if TSN has taken them over but this will provide decent ratings for whichever network has them.
