Yep, and I later admitted that I was probably throwing money away. Should have been a no brainer for any Karlsson fan, but Corks was too busy arguing terms to make an already extremely favourable bet even more favourable.
 
How would we even know?

He's just getting started and coming off major surgery.

He posted reasonable offensive numbers in both the WHL and the AHL playoffs (while playing like a stud defensively during their Calder Cup run).

This one is going to bite this board in the ass big time. Almost as bad as the Chara take post Yashin trade.

Sensible on Cowen
 
Sens fans still keep using the chara comp, when there are countless more examples of 6'5" failures to use instead of a strange comp with a monster 4 inches taller, 40lbs heavier...and one of the smartest players in the league to boot.

Baggy

Hot Karl is indisputably the best defenceman on either team. By far. I think methot is as valuable as phaneuf. He's much steadier and more reliable. And in terms of upside, I could see taking Cowen over phaneuf too. I'd agree that's only on potential though.
