Two different ways of saying "He threw the ball?"

From the time that the Seahawks got to mid-field, very little of their last possession/drive made much sense, except for running Lynch from the 5 yard line. Even "the catch" was a fluke. The long pass attempt before on first down was a dumb call, and wasting more than 20 seconds at the line before the inexplicable pass attempt at the half yard line was also dumb. It was like Michel Therrien took over Pete Carroll's brain.

Darren Rovell
Danny Sheridan estimates at least $5 BILLION changed hands around the world (legal & illegal) on the final INT last night.

Great game from both teams ruined by a terrible play call at the end.

Mind-boggling call indeed.

Bevell dialed up the slant -- Seattle had used the play effectively this past year. Problem is the Pats D practiced defending the play during the week with Butler actually getting a pick in practice by jumping the route.

I love when football turns into a chess match.

Bevell was a douche by telling media his receiver could have been stronger on the ball.

That play aside, I think fans are overlooking the Pats amazing 4th quarter comeback (they were down 14-24) against one of the toughest Ds in recent history.

It was a dumb drive. I figured it was Scarface trying to prove he was smarter than everyone. Carroll's hubris took over.

The Northwest Mouth's reaction was classic. Serves him right for ripping on Revis after the Baldwin TD and on Baldwin for pretending to take a crap on the football.

The Seahawks as a team showed no class with the way they acted after the Patriots went into victory formation.

Wilson's throw was terrible as well.

The Pats played great, and I was expecting them to. They played it smart by sticking with the short plays.

Be honest with yourself, if say Andy Dalton or Tony Romo made that throw, would you be willing to cut them slack? Wilson has not been criticized one iota except by Cowherd. Now one could argue that is because Carroll's hubris is to be criticized more, but one can also argue it is because Wilson is never criticized. He was terrible last week and didn't complete a pass for a quarter and a half yesterday. He gets away with a lot because he is perceived as a nice guy.

Bit of a mismatch, however. That play would have been fine . . . on 4th down . . . after you've tried two more running plays and used the 2 timeouts you had left . . . and not wasted 20 seconds after the initial Lynch run. And I said, even the two long passes were stupid (even though one worked).

Interesting stat based discussion about the final play. I still would have run the ball but it turns out that throwing from the 1 yard line is a very safe bet. Much safer than I thought.

#NFL teams this season threw 66 TD passes with 1 INT on passes from the 1-yard line. That 1 INT was ... well ... tonight.

Other advantages discussed here.

So throw the ball on 3rd and 4th downs if Lynch can't punch it from the half yard line on 2nd.

Carroll after the game said "high risk, high reward" but it was really just stupidity because you didn't need high risk on 2nd down from the one yard line with two timeouts left.

I thought Seatle only had one TO after the initial run.

Actually, I was surprised the Pats didn't call a TO because it seemed probable that Seattle would score and Brady would need time to get into FG range.

I think you're right but if they don't waste 20 seconds after the Lynch run they would have had sufficient time for three more plays if need be.

The wasting of 20 seconds was just moronic.
