Great game from both teams ruined by a terrible play call at the end.
From the time that the Seahawks got to mid-field, very little of their last possession/drive made much sense, except for running Lynch from the 5 yard line. Even "the catch" was a fluke. The long pass attempt before on first down was a dumb call, and wasting more than 20 seconds at the line before the inexplicable pass attempt at the half yard line was also dumb. It was like Michel Therrien took over Pete Carroll's brain.
Mind-boggling call indeed.
Bevell dialed up the slant -- Seattle had used the play effectively this past year. Problem is the Pats D practiced defending the play during the week with Butler actually getting a pick in practice by jumping the route.
I love when football turns into a chess match.
Bevell was a douche by telling media his receiver could have been stronger on the ball.
That play aside, I think fans are overlooking the Pats amazing 4th quarter comeback (they were down 14-24) against one of the toughest Ds in recent history.
Wilson's throw was terrible as well.
Mind-boggling call indeed.

No, the pass was right on target.
he led him too much, the throw had to be further behind, he gave the DB the chance to jump the route

Interesting stat based discussion about the final play. I still would have run the ball but it turns out that throwing from the 1 yard line is a very safe bet. Much safer than I thought.
#NFL teams this season threw 66 TD passes with 1 INT on passes from the 1-yard line. That 1 INT was ... well ... tonight.
Other advantages discussed here.

Bit of a mismatch, however. That play would have been fine . . . on 4th down . . . after you've tried two more running plays and used the 2 timeouts you had left . . . and not wasted 20 seconds after the initial Lynch run. And I said, even the two long passes were stupid (even though one worked).
I thought Seatle only had one TO after the initial run.
Actually, I was surprised the Pats didn't call a TO because it seemed probable that Seattle would score and Brady would need time to get into FG range.
