New Hockey sim - Franchise Hockey Manager 2

This looks pretty sweet. I've been reading the forums and FHM 1 had many many problems. However, FHM2 looks really polished up and much better. The developers recognized their errors in the first release and have tested the new version and have a lot more time to run the bugs out after dealing with the first release.

Anyways, I just wanted to share as this hockey sim looks pretty good and I'll be buying a copy for myself.

It's still not quite to the level OOTP is (Markus has been working on that one for 15 years, Sebastian+co have been working on FHM for 2-3), but it's vastly improved from the first iteration of FHM. They've put in a lot of effort to fix things up, and it plays very smoothly overall. If you're a fan of hockey sims, I'd say it's well worth it, and I don't just say that because I work for the same company :p

It's 25% off this week, too, for anyone who's thinking about it.

Is this like Eastside hockey Manager?

I could be wrong but I believe the developer for the original EHM (Ritz or something) is now with the company that does FHM.

I've put in waaaaaay too many hours into the original game (the old old one, not the 2007 one that is being redone on Steam) and still go back to it from time to time.

Habs won the cup every year in the 2050's.

Same thing here, I've played that thing a lot. Haven't played in a long time though now.

No, the EHM developer (Risto Remes) is still with SI Games, and as you mentioned is bringing the 2007 version back on Steam now. FHM is done in-house at OOTP Developments.

The old freeware EHM was pretty awesome. I think that game essentially got me into this whole genre of game. I did play the 2007 version too, but it never quite had the same feel as the original game. FHM 2 definitely is inspired by both OOTP and EHM, but is aiming for its own feel.

Ok thanks. I was playing the orginal one just a couple days ago. I downloaded it again last year as I had my computer crash. Had to start our again in 2001. I quickly fired AV and hired Mike Keenan. Went on to win 6 cups with him over 10 years. I also traded for Chara and had Pronger as my C for a number of years. Now I'm in year 2017 and just came off another cup. Love the original and hope this new game is just as good.

Would like to play a game with updates roster, prospects and new up and comers.

You work at OOTP? What do you do exactly, like are you a programmer?

The first version of FHM wasn't really playable as a game, but the company has a great track record with their baseball game OOTP (the latest version is just fantastic) so I'll give them another shot. They revamped the game engine which was really bare bones before. EHM (by the same company who does the big soccer game) was also great for its time but the new version is based on 9 year old code so there are some aspects that are a bit buggy with the new version, such as the AI.

Yup. Started last year, doing a little bit of everything in the main game (I did the owner goals, financial cleanup, HOF/All-Star voting, and a bunch of other stuff that I don't remember). Awesome company to work for :)

Took that long to right the ship?

ah my mistake, I knew he moved on to greater things somewhere.

oh no, there were many cups in between but won all of them in the 50's. I played until I reached 2099 which was the limit and the Habs had over 60 cups by then. Being a nerd I even kept a spreadsheet to track the Habs all time high player stats, ten players ended up passing Lafleur.

very nice, I just started school again for computer programming and am hoping to work on hockey related games sometime in the future.

I'm playing this game right now and it's pretty good, a lot better than last year in terms of the sim results, immersiveness and presentation. Trade AI needs some work though, I'm able to trade Desharnais + 2nd to Edmonton for Eberle ...

Hm, hahahaha, ya then the AI definitely needs work. Maybe MB could pull that off in real life.
