OT: The Toronto Blue Jays

It's not close. Hard to judge by WAR at this point in time though, but it's really not that close. Shapiro's 01-10 was dreadful though...absolutely dreadful.

Shapiro seems to be good at evaluating prospects when forced to trade the Lee and Sabathia's of the world. So...yay?

Shapiro's best trade and one that's gonna be hard to beat: Bartolo Colon for Grady Sizemore, Brandon Phillips and Cliff Lee

TORONTO - The Blue Jays have announced the departure of General Manager Alex Anthopolous due to a contract dispute in which Rogers was only able to promise him 150 long distance minutes.

“Are they kidding me with this shit?” said a clearly irate Anthopolous. “I bring them David [Price] and Troy [Tulowitzki] but they can’t even get me 300 outgoing minutes? Christ.”

The contract negotiations had been going well until a Rogers executive handed Anthopolous a pamphlet detailing their mobile plans and told him to “pick whatever he wanted, within reason”.

“I assumed the guy who single-handedly gave this city its most successful baseball team in over two decades would be worth a free iPhone upgrade,” said Anthopolous. “Apparently they don’t consider that ‘being a team player’.”

Anthopolous says initially he requested unlimited day-time minutes, which caused the assembled Rogers executives to burst into long, loud laughter before eventually realizing that the Blue Jays GM was being serious. Furious, Anthopolous then made an attempt to call his lawyer but couldn’t get reception.

“The worst part is they kept trying to give me Shomi,” said Anthopolous. “What the **** is Shomi? Is it Netflix? I already have Netflix!”

At press time, Anthopolous had been informed he would be charged a $400 cancellation fee for leaving the Blue Jays before winning a title.

Of course some American provider will now offer him a sweet deal on an iPhone 6, then Rogers retention department will be all like, "Why'd you leave us? We can match that offer".

Hasn't Familia blown two saves? One was because of an error, but that probably let Collins be convinced to leave him in...

He has.

But it's simple numbers when you start talking about a pitcher after 100 pitches...3rd+ time through an order, etc. If you don't trust Familia, go pure match ups and use the rest of your pen. But don't give in to this tough guy nonsense and let a pumped up athlete tell you what's going to happen.

Yeah, I agree especially against the Royals who seem impossible to retire this postseason.

And unsurprisingly, the Royals get a crazy play to tie it. Feel like Wright needs to hold that ball a second longer.

Maybe it's Gibby in disguise?

Gibby logic is still extremely pervasive in baseball....I find it funny that teams will imitate the shit out of an innovator (think Maddon with the shift) but won't follow that same logic (innovation according to what the numbers suggest) into other areas of the game. If you play the percentages and get beat, shit happens. If you ignore them (like Collins did here) and get beat (which just got a lot more likely), you have no one to blame but yourself.
