OT: American Politics

Right so, jobs that the mass majority of people, young and old, will never have.

Not everyone is lucky enough to get rich uploading cat videos to youtube, or time bubbles well and buy sports franchises.

The other thing about old people, and most relevant to this situation, is that they are the ones that bother to vote.

60% of the paid agitators that got arrested at the Portland protests did not vote.

Sure voter turnout hurt Hillary everywhere but California, where it doesn't make any difference, but she failed in the rust belt, and that is what cost her the Presidency.

Aside from youtube, the rest are standard jobs that the average person will have. (ie every big, and even many small businesses, will have a need for data scientists/analysts)

Jobs can come back if corporations would stop being so ****ing greedy.

Cupertino, California — Apple® today announced financial results for its fiscal 2016 third quarter ended June 25, 2016. The Company posted quarterly revenue of $42.4 billion and quarterly net income of $7.8 billion, or $1.42 per diluted share.

They could easily afford to pay Americans a decent wage, with good benefits and a pension, and keep the price point the same, if they would just take a little less than $7.8 Billion profit in one quarter.

Funny that people that are all about socialism when it comes to immigration, and health care, and social security, don't give a shit about how companies in the private sector operate. Even publicly traded ones.

If people really want the country to get fixed, why can't a company like Apple, that makes so much money, just make a little less money?

Everyone wins. Just a few at the top win a little less.

The real issue is we need to stop having more than two kids per family...maybe in the States one...but automation is a reality, as life gets easier there should be less jobs, not just different ones.

Forget about global overpopulation for a second, even here in North America we don't need this many people.

To do what?

How many IT professionals can the market bear? Already the job requirements are ridiculous, and the salaries are way down due to over saturation.

You can't have a society of people that have "Office Space" jobs. Not everyone is suited for that type of work. Some people like to make things. Not everyone has the brain power to go into engineering. Not everyone has the skills to start and manage their own business.

I already said that when I was in high school, you could quit at 16 and find a job. At the mill, the foundry, do an apprenticeship, make a decent wage at a manufacturing plant...whatever. People had options that they don't have now.

How does it make any sense at all to outsource your entire workforce, and then import millions of more people to compete for jobs that aren't there anymore?

Scoreboard is on my side, fella.

The steel mills probably aren't coming back...and if they do, they will be manned mostly by robots. Even without robots, today's high tech factories need 1/10 of the employees to yield the production of yesteryear. Trump's policies will just give the illusion of fairness while the 1% keeps adding to their capital.

Guaranteed basic income (welfare) is coming.

Well actually, people are having less kids, which is why the government tells us we need immigrants.

A Trump supporter, calling big business too greedy, that's rich.

Advances in technology = better roads, faster transportation, safer transportation = increase in migration (international (from one country to another) and internal (within nations)) + trade (goods can get to another country faster, safely, more efficiently) = corporations see the world as a market instead just their own = cheaper to manufacture in china = reality.

Our message to you has been to realize this reality, and deal with it. One way to deal with is to make common sense regulations. The other is to see the value of government involvement in specific situations. For example, it makes sense for govt to invest into risky ventures/new technologies (even if these sometimes fail) because the corporations don't want to. Corporations have no interest in risking their money for the greater good..but once they see a market develop...they'll jump in, and the government can step back. The Republican party has made this impossible. Their reality is to believe that government can't do anything..so they block every attempt of moving the country forward, to in essence try to prove (and lie to the American people) that the government is corrupt and can't do anything right.

And this is even on Trump's agenda?

You people should have been feeling the Bern, he's the only major party politician who is beating this drum. You muppets supported Trump instead?

Nobody will benefit from Trump's policies more than corporations like Apple.

Yep...we have an entire generation of people too delicate to hear the truth...and it's not the ones who get made fun of for being overly sensitive. Don't get me wrong, they're shit too, but rural Americans have been burying their heads in the sand for 10 to 15 years now

Except they don't need therapy dogs, safe spaces and coloring books to cope. Buncha ****ing pansies.

So basically a government that promotes Socialist policies instead of Capitalist ones.

Hmm... sounds like something that's likely to happen under a Trump presidency and GOP controlled House and Senate.

It's pretty clear now why JH doesn't really address actual points..but sticks to his own silly messages. The dude is stupidas****. Stick to talking about corruption and conspiracies..you're a lot better at that.

Their way of coping is very similar..let's control other people and maybe punch them in the face because we're angry at stuff!!!

If grown people need coloring books and therapy dogs they're not grown. They're coddled little ****s that nobody ever said no to. Life's rough, get a helmet.
