GDT - Leafs @ Flames | 9:00PM SNET1

number17

Mod Squad
After taking care of business vs. the Oilers, we get to face the Flames on back-to-back nights.

The Oilers were the toughest game in this Canadian west coast swing, and we should be able to take care of the 26th place Flames. The only thing is Enroth has been pretty subpar, so we've really gotta keep things tight if we're to beat the Flames tonight.

Good news is, not only are the Flames not very good, they're terrible at home (3-7-0). They are coming off 2 losses, and their defense/goaltending has been really bad so we gotta take advantage of that.

I don't expect any lineup change for the Leafs after last nights' game.

And as expected, Nylander's icetime took a big hit last night on teh 4th line, playing just 12 min (Matthews played almost 17 min in comparison, Hyman 15 min) ... we'll see if that continues tonight.

Go Leafs Go!!!

really? Freddy is already on pace to 70+ starts ... I think we gotta give Enroth a start and Freddie a break. He's playing a LOT more games than usual this year as is.

After Saturday they are off until Wednesday so he will get a break then. If hes ready roll with him

I'm kind of conflicted on what they should do with the goaltending tonight. On one hand, I have absolutely no confidence in Enroth at the moment, and I'd rather we not further handicap our team on the second half of a road back-to-back by putting him on net. On the other hand, Andersen is in no way used to the workload we're putting him under, and if we wear him out or get him injured, we're sort of ****ed.

The wild card here is Karri Ramo. If the Leafs are just biding their time until he's healthy, at which point they dump Enroth, then maybe they continue to ride Andersen hard for now knowing that they'll give him more breaks once Ramo's installed as our backup.

Someone did a long-term comparison between Ramo and Enroth and they are almost like clones.

Meaning, if we think Ramo will be an 'upgrade' over Enroth ... he most likely isn't. There's a reason why he's without a contract right now.

This is true. Andersen would get two full days off between tonight's game and the game against Vancouver on Saturday, and then the Leafs only play on Wednesday & Saturday next week. That's not too bad.

Ramo isn't a midget which is the only thing i could see the team liking about him more than Enroth. The TSN reporter I believe stated that Babcock has only used Enroth on the 2nd night of a back to back if Andersen lost the previous night.

After tonight we play Saturday and then Wednesday so he will have some time to rest.

I'd run with Andersen. Obviously we want to win and make the playoffs, but ideally we want to do it on the backs of the young core pieces. Challenge Andersen to play 70 games, and back to back games. Eventually you need a good back up, and only want your starter playing 55-60 games, but Andersen is young and developing as a starter so throw down the gauntlet. Challenge him. Its only good experience that serves him well in the long run.

If you are looking at the small picture it is problematic as he will likely wear down at some point. But looking at the big picture it will benefit Andersen's development.

I mean goalies are voodoo and all, but I see no reason why Enroth can't be fine other than small sample luck.

Enroth and yesterdays scratches out for the morning skate. Everyone else has the morning off. Not sure if that means Freddy goes again or not

I don't think it has to mean anything ... I'd think Freddie would get the morning off if he's starting today or not anyways, having played the night before.

Two goals against in the first minute, and one off the post in the second minute.

Christ.
