OT: Merry Christmas!

So did everyone get what they wanted for Christmas? I mean aside from credit card bills?

I did.

Probably a bit more than I was expecting, what with two kids in university. Turns out we must have money my wife doesn't tell me about.

Got to spend time with family and friends (which is harder than it sounds when you live a couple of time zones away) so yeah.

And my favourite small California MJ company has gone ape shit over the holidays...so yes, I've gotten everything that I wanted.

Got a sinus infection and contemplating stabbing myself in the face to relieve pressure at the moment

Kids had a good day though so that's a win

Sounds nice. I had my kids and grandkid over. Been awhile. It gets tougher now that they're in their late 20's. Especially my son, don't get to see him often.

Wow, this is as speculative as speculative gets, for me at least.

What do you like about it? Personal experience in trying the products? That they are already being sold?

First mover advantage (as a THC infused beverage) in the largest cannabis market in the world, with just enough regulatory uncertainty (still illegal federally) to keep the big beverage players out of the market (Constellation's play on CGC was specifically about beverages that CGC doesn't make currently...but are in a much friendlier national jurisdiction for cannabis).

15 million bottle a year bottling plant coming on line within the next few months, with over 60% of cannabis ingestion expected to be edibles/drinkables by 2020 in Cali.

They hold patents that give their product a significant advantage over existing cannabis infused beverages, they're flush with cash and a strong share structure that would allow for more dilution if further cash is necessary for expansion (but existing expansion plans are fully funded)

It's not currently for sale largely because they had no interest in meeting medical cannabis regulatory requirements in California. It's expected to be on shelves in January after their permitting under the new legal rec regulations is handled (their manufacturing and bottling facility required permitting that Cali simply wasn't ready to start handing out until a couple of weeks ago)

So to summarize that...drinkable weed being sold in a 38 million person market, by a company that is first to market in Cali and ready to roll with all the right types of people you would want involved in a start up like this (former venture capital guy as CEO, major beverage industry execs on both the board and in major executive roles)

Speculative? Absolutely. The entire Cannabis industry is.

What do you think of MARI.CN as a Canadian play yet to pop?

I'm not a big fan of "me too" growers in the long term. Especially growers who had damaged greenhouses before their IPO and didn't disclose it.

I think there are much better mid sized growers like cronos, hvst , and even supreme if you're looking for an alternative to the big 3.

With that said, everyone who isn't entirely useless should make money in this industry initially so even maricann should see share price move in the right direction through July.

Of the big players, MedReleaf is my only holding. High operating margin and laser like focus on quality/safety - the latter IMO will be a crucial differentiation going forward

When the July shakeup happens and some lucidity enters the market I'd take a long look at aphria for similar reasons. They've been my favourite of the big players for a while. Big warchest, good operating margins already, looking at the us market instead of the European market for expansion is balls and I think will pay off as well.
