Pacioretty

No way. We get a later 1st and a middling prospect. Game over we missed our chance to re-position this franchise because Roscoe P. Coltane is running things.

He is the reason we will suck for 3 more years make no mistake about it.

Subban deal = ARROGANCE to the bitter end...lost Taylor Hall (plus a pick) and he lost Horvat plus Tanev.

Traded AG too late, after totally destroying his value.

Went for the french guy to make up for icing a respectable team and paid heavily for it...therefore willing to pay a premium for political gain.

MB doesn't really seem to have a strength, we know that.

Friedman alludes to Max looking for an 8-year deal in an interview with Jeff Marek - Kings unwillingness to offer up 8-years for the reason for switching agents and the deal falling apart.

the kings would not violate the CBA for max?

weird

More clarity from Friedman, 31-thoughts:

6. Sometime before Round 2, Montreal went to Max Pacioretty with a trade offer from the Kings. An extension was included. It was time-sensitive, because 2018 draft picks were included. Pacioretty said no, and switched agents to Allan Walsh. Can it be revived? Not sure. I do think the Kings considered adding two scorers, not stopping with Ilya Kovalchuk. But the issue is going to be Pacioretty’s next contract.
I do believe he would like to play in Los Angeles, but would also like to make up for what he left on the table with the Canadiens. LA can’t fit that. Pacioretty is upset and the Canadiens are upset, so even though word was they may keep him now, that’s going to be awkward if it happens. GM Marc Bergevin will revisit this, maybe depending on who misses their target on July 1.

interesting....
i wonder what draft picks at that point would have been included
after the first round you would have to think 2019 draft picks would be fine as well
Only issue is 2019 & 2020 are projected to be exceptional draft cuvées.

2017 trade deadline, teams coughed up 1st rounders for the likes of Hanzal because 2017 was viewed as a weak draft. Teams are less likely to ever surrender 1st rounders to start with and I’d assume even less so in a potential strong/deep draft.

Keeping Max until the trade deadline probably gets us a higher pick (our own pick) in round one.
If nothing manifests post July 1st...MB may need to make another trip to the wishing well, hoping early season injury to a contender with potential Sakic return for Duchene...

With the Ottawa deal giving Colorado next years first , I dont see teams coughing up future picks now without a clearer picture where they sit in the standings or lottery protection .

Alan Walsh, who's also L.A. based (like Brisson), and Rob Blake are allegedly trying to hammer out an agreement on an extension for Max. Trade might not be dead yet.
