Yup I see your point.
For me the deal I’d still really like to see is Pax for Nichushkin. I’d do that 1v1 at this point.
Maybe a conditional draft pick if they sign him...but that means maybe sending a pick their way if they don’t sign him (obviously not a 1st).

Looks like the Max Pacioretty situation is getting uglier by the minute in Montreal.
First, Marc Bergevin & Geoff Molson showed up at Pacioretty's golf tournament a couple of days ago. And after Bergevin claimed when speaking to reporters that there was no issue between him and Pacioretty, and that he didn't want to do their contract negotiations in public, Pacioretty's agent tweeted this out:
Today, a member of Montreal's French media came out and claimed that "three sources" have told him that Pacioretty has repeatedly asked to be traded out of Montreal, and is not willing to sign an extension with the team. So, enter again Pacioretty's agent, to refute that story and accuse the Canadiens organization of leaking fake stories to the media:

Well the team leaked that he had asked for a trade, then Walsh tweeted he never asked, but the team had traded him to the Kings. He also stated that Max wants to stay in Montreal and sign a long term deal.
The team leak likely stems from the fact Max came out looking good at the golf tournament a couple of days ago. Bergevin doesn't like it when his stars look good and he looks bad, so miraculously, the leak occurs today.
The gloves were off when pretty boy refused an extension to be traded to the Kings .
at his stage, and given how we have treated him, why should he agree to a trade to a team he might not want to play for next season? He holds the cards now. He can play this year out and force Bergevin's hand.

He doesn’t have a trade clause . He knows he is no longer wanted .
Turned down the reported 6x6 from LA . Does he think at 31 some team is going 7 or 8 years when teams have clearly dropped term from vets in UFA ?
I think he is nuts gambling on his last deal . One more bad season / injuries will blow up in his face when teams are clearly going younger .
