Let’s use this for non-Canes free agent signings, Canes signings get their own thread.

And it looks like it will be a busy day.

I wonder what the Stars are doing? The Fourth Period tweeted that they’re signing Pavelski, 3 years/$21 million. He’s going to be 35 in 10 days. They’re also rumored to be signing Corey Perry.

There's a lot of rumors flying around. Some reasonable, some outlandish.

So the Duchene contract for the Preds looks like a real bargain and the Panarin contract at $12m+ a year is absolutely insane...but some of the others out there are just plain nuts for what you get for the money.

I hope outside of landing Mrazek or Lehner as the true #1 in net, the Canes just fill a hole or two and shore up the depth today.

TSN reporting that Mike Smith is headed to the Oilers, which should relieve a few folks here...

Elliotte Friedmann says that Andrew Poruralski is headed to Anaheim and Josiah Didier to Boston. Didier wasn’t on a NHL contract, he was on a Cherkers contract. That’s 2 big losses for the Cherkers.

Columbus with a strange decision to go with Korpisalo and Merzilickens as their goaltending tandem next season so basically taking another team out of the mix for Mrazek and Lehner who both want to start.

Maybe the Canes end up getting their way with a shorter term 2-3 deal with one of those two now. I bet the shorter term option is what Carolina wanted all along with anyone here who was going to start.

The old guy signings in Dallas continue. McKenzie says they’re signing Andrej Sekara, 1 year/$1.5 million base, $500k in potential bonuses. He just turned 33. I thought bonuses were only allowed in entry-level and 35+ contracts, unless they were signing bonuses?

Meh ... I think we're prolly going to end up with Mrazek, which has been the most likely scenario from Day 1. Smith did freak me out a little, I'll admit. And Lehner is at least talented enough to think about, baggage or no. But we'll see what happens this afternoon.

I honestly don't have a clue what they're doing in Big D. I just can't imagine looking at that roster and thinking ... yeah, we'll lose Spezza but make up for it by adding like 3 other old, broken down guys.

Looks like the Rangers swooped in at the last minute and stole Panarin from the Islanders. Reports last night had him headed to the Island but now it appears the Rangers have won the bidding.

Poor Ron Hainsey singed with Ottawa apparently ... awaiting confirmation. 1 year, $3.5 mil. Good luck and God bless.

I mean. He's older than dirt. Why didn't Dallas jump on that?

Which I don’t understand. They have both of their goalies under contract. If they’re thinking they can sneak him off to the AHL, they’re probably mistaken.

I mean ... McIlhenney is a better backup than Domingue, but I feel ya. Seems dumb for a team without much cap space. Maybe they feel like they can deal Louie.

Checkers Captain Patrick Brown signs with Vegas, two year deal, second year is a one way deal for Brown. He deserves an NHL shot full time so good for him.

Checkers have said good-bye now to Brown, Roy, Poturalski, Didier, Saarela...good chunk of the Calder Cup gang.

2 years $1.3 M per year I guess that was too high for the Canes to match

Definitely the term, don’t know about the money. Signing a career backup, who’s only played more than 30 games twice in his career to a 2 year contract and will be 38 when it ends is silly.
