I was thinking much the same. If he appreciated the Raptors management as much as he let on why let them waste time and money flying back and forth to LA. He could have just told them at the first meeting thanks but I am really looking to return to LA.

It was his right to leave TO but seems a bit cheesy to poach a player under contract from another team.
 
OKC offered Westbrook and PG-13 to the Raptors with Siakam as the centerpiece of an “asset-crippling deal,” but Toronto turned it down, per @wojespn

What? That's almost the exact supporting cast I said they would get if they didn't land Kawhi. KCP for the minimum is the only surprising name there.

Masai did the right thing

- We had received no guarantees from Kawhi that he would stay even if we made that trade
- The Westbrook contract is one of the worst superstar contracts in the league, for a guy who seems allergic to winning
- It would have crippled us going forward to take a shot with Kawhi-PG-Westbrook and scrubs.

If Masai does what I think he'll do, this year could be a little lean, but the turnaround will be quick. Back to being a legitimate ECF darkhorse by next year, and then buckets of cap space to make adds on top of that.
 
Looking at it logically, Kahwai had no guarantees that the Clippers could/would pull off their deal. The Raptors would always be a good backup plan.

Yeah, and I'm not going to bother listening to the hot take "Lakers were his 2nd choice" shit. These talking heads prove that they knew ****ing nothing. Unless Kawhi or Uncle Dennis come out and say something specifically.

Clippers went balls out to get the guy he wanted to play with, are in LA, and have a legend level front office. I'm not even mad. Lakers? I'd be ****ing choked. **** Lebron, **** Magic, **** Jeanie, **** the whole bag. That organization took a fat shit the moment they decided that Jerry West didn't fit in their plans anymore. Jerry was bothered by the growing nepotism in the organization and Jeanie didn't like that he was bothered.

I can live with it being the Clippers. Jerry West deserves to dangle is old nuts in the faces of Jeanie, Phil, Magic, and the Rambis'. Let your nuts hang old boy, let'em hang.

I'll take their current top 8 man rotation and give the total WARP value.

East

Sixers: +27.0
Bucks: +25.8
Celtics: +20.9
Raptors: +19.2
Indy: 17.5

West

Rockets: 29.3 (Harden is projected for a ****ing mind boggling 15.3 wins)
Clippers: 26.3
Lakers: 26.0 (biased? Sure. But Boogie has been a 1.6 combined over the last 2 years, but projects as a +3.4...I don't buy it, could be closer to 23 for the Lakers)
Warriors: 26.0
Nuggets: 24.1
Jazz: 23.2
