The 2019-2020 MotherFucking Season Thread

The other good thing is if he can get Soup and Dermott to sign, it starts to give the team 2020-21 cap certainty before the trade deadline this year to make a move with someone with term next year or to trade/sign for a ufa

Holl signs a 3 year 2 mil aav deal

Wow. Good move by Holl imo. Great organization now, suits his game, he is playing top four minutes and maybe seeing Mikheyev's injury showed him the downside of playing hardball.

Obviously he loves playing for Keefe. I think he could have gotten more on the open market.

He definitely would have landed a bigger deal on the open market.

Prime years, RHD, UFA ... if he keeps playing at his current level and then performs likewise for a playoff run, he'd bag well north of $2mm aav.

Im actually seeing people say the Leafs overpaid for Holl

Galaxy brain shit from some of these guys

The Media: Mike Babcock is such a dummy for not playing Justin Holl last year
The Media: Kyle Dubas is such a dummy for paying Justin Holl 2 million dollars

I just want these fucks to be consistent. Either Holl is a really good hockey player who got shafted by Babcock, or he's not worth 2 million a season (which is what you pay a veteran #6 at the end of their days ffs), you can't have it both ways media.

The only downside I see here is that Holl's performance has been pumped up by Muzzin and he might get exposed without him. Even if that happens though, it would mean he's a bottom pair RD -- which is still a good deal.

Valid concern. The easy counter to that though is that Holl has performed like a very legit #4 defender next to Muzzin and 2 million for that is a gross underpay. We're paying Holl as if this level of play we've seen from him is a mirage. If he's nothing more than a functional 3rd pairing RHD for the next 3.5 years, he's worth every penny.

I'd like to see Keefe give Rielly-Holl a twirl, although it's unlikely given Keefe's history with Marincin-Holl.

Yeah, that was the extreme downside. Holl looks like a legit top four guy. Moreover, one that can handle tough comp in the right pairing. This could end up being a screamingly good deal.
