OT: Coronavirus Resources - and other things to not worry about

One thing the Brits got right is the stimulus package

UK Govt job retentions scheme will provide employers with a grant covering 80% of salaries for retained workers up to £2,500pm, per worker. All UK employers are eligible, payments backdated to 01 March and scheme to run for an initial period of 3 months

They're just kind of doing it backwards, that's all.

I wish we got that package.

Canada has tested 59,000 people....a per-capita rate 4.8x that of US.

% positive rate still under 2% nationally.

Compare that to 11% in California, 19% in NY, and 69% in NJ

not much testing in NJ for some reason

I think we can assume there’s tons more international travel going in and out of CA and NY. They were never going to be comparable to Canada as a whole (not even limited to just Ontario).

opposite of SARS; where I think Toronto was hit the hardest among North American cities

that's an 8.6% death rate for the record, though of course they're not testing everybody, just the ones in clear need.

The plan is to throw money everywhere but where it’s needed. Cleaver instead of a scalpel.
