I'm prepared for the letdown. If Fred's in net tonight, they Leafs will need to burst the dam at the other end.

I'm not convinced Campbell is better than Andersen. I'm not even convinced Andersen was necessarily "awful." He was below average for sure.. But that's kind of where my expectations lie with Campbell or any backup goalie really so hoping for an upgrade might be iffy. I'm not married to starting Andersen but I don't think it's worth having a meltdown over if it happens. I would still probably lean towards starting Jackie Campbs though just based on the back to back historical stats for goalies.

But man it would be a real gutsy call. He'd be crucified if Campbell lays an egg and that's how they get elimated.

And Murray has delivered 2 cups. Freddy hasn't won a series. Yet the perception exists it's Freddy or die.

Yeah, I really don't get it. He's treated like he's prime Cujo/Belfour in Toronto. He's (usually...not this year) a good starter, but just a good one. In the modern NHL probably better suited for being a 1A in a platoon.

We need Jack tonight.

We've now had 4 years of Fred letting the team down in clutch playoff situations. Enough. Well, I'd had enough of him two years ago. The one thing I am concerned about with Dubas is his understanding of goalies. Maybe he kept him around to appease AM. Part of me would like to see him get shelled tonight.

People blame the team around Andy for crumbling and thats fair, but if everyone on this board is worried about a fresh baked muffin at any time how isnt the team? Has to be a tremendous worry and burden to play with that.

One thing that does happen with Fred is he plays strong when the team is down in a series. He'll probably post a shutout tonight and Leafs Nation will drop to its knees.

Obvious meter.....Leafs need a goal early. I dont think a 0-0 slog in the mud helps things. That said i thought they looked fantastic last night for the most part.

I might consider 7D too, limit Marincin and Sandin. Scratch Spezza and use Matthews/Tavares on doubles with the 4th line

I don't like the call to keep Freddy in if that's what's happening. Elvis didn't play all game yesterday so that's likely a slight edge going to Columbus from the whole "Don't play goalies in back to backs" thing. Here's hoping that even if the Leafs don't deserve to win they actually win for once.

Freddy this, Freddy that.

Wake me up when it’s cool for Matthews, Tavares, Marner, and Nylander to combine for three goals in a series against the lower seed.

Time for them to produce.

Gut check time. There are no excuses for this one. Has to be their best game of the year.

Play like they did for the last 5 periods (3rd ot excluded) and its a lock.

The formula is there they just need to be consistent with it

Columbus were 6th in GA this year. They dont give up much to even the best of teams

I love you. But one thing I'll correct: Columbus and Toronto were tied in the regular season. These are two pretty good, not great but not bad, hockey teams. Our expectations that Toronto SHOULD be better doesn't really change that. The reality is this isn't some David vs Goliath series. It's going about how I expected it with small bounces, luck and mediocre goaltending deciding games 1 and 3. Game 2 was all Leafs though and overall (cumulatively) Leafs have the edge in play by a decent amount. But that doesn't always mean they'll get the results in this beautiful but maddening sport.
