Leafs trade for Foligno

The Leafs have $2.7 mill in LTIR space left...

Hall + Ullmark at 25% is $2.65. Just saying.
No more fourth rounder this year for the double retention! Only have a 2nd 5th and 6th rounder remaining for 2021. Fuck it. Trade em all!

Tavares and Willy need someone to go into the corners and get it when they can't carry it in or when they lose it.
That's what Hyman does and now we have Foligno

Why have one, when we can have two for a playoff run

Because Foligno is an offensive black hole. If you want him fetching pucks on the 3rd line, sure. But he's not the guy you want out there supporting a scoring line, unless you're trying to make the scoring line score less.

You're gonna be pleasantly surprised I think. He's got hands.

It would be the 2016 version of Hyman. We all loved that.

The 2021 version of Nick Foligno is a very pale shadow of Zach Hyman.

Yeah, that's the other thing.

Anyone who thinks we traded for another Hyman is going to be very upset in a few weeks. He's not a Hyman other than on the forecheck. Once the puck has been won he's pretty inept with it these days.

So he definitely has his uses....on the 3rd line.

AG-Matthews-Marner
Hyman-Tavares-Nylander
Foligno-Engvall-Mikky
Jumbo/Simmonds-Kerfoot-Spezza

Is our best lineup going forward.

Maybe it's just me, but that's part of the reason I want Hyman on the third line. He can drive that third line.

Really unsure of where this plug reputation came from. He's been a skill guy his whole career. He has always thrived playing with talent. Problem with Columbus is that they have none.

Now imagine those lines with Hyman in Foligno’s spot and Hall in Hyman’s spot.

Foligno is a good pick up, but for a far lesser price and to play on the fourth line.

A "skill guy" who's in his fourth straight year of scoring at a 30-40 point pace.
