OT: The Toronto Blue Jays

I’m thankful for the decimal point after the 7, so that we know EXACTLY how long the games will last.

Anyway... I like the 7.0 inning doubleheader. It’s encouraging that baseball has been willing to undertake a few incremental innovations in the last year. It’s a beautiful game, but probably the worst sport at adapting to the need for change. I’m somewhat of a traditionalist so don’t want to see anything extreme, but as people change, the game should slowly adjust.

Next up, think about lowering the mound a few inches.

They're moving the mound back by a foot in the Atlantic League to see if that will help. But yeah, stuff like 7 inning double-headers and the extra-inning rule are things which are certainly not 100% supported, but little things to keep things moving.

Hadn’t hear about that somehow. It’s surprising because a lot of Atlantic league clubs share their field with other lower level teams. Maybe this will trickle down, then up. Impressive.

I think the extra innings runner on 2nd started in the Atlantic league as well. I don’t really like that rule, but at least they’re trying things.

Pitchers used to be able to bounce the ball. The winner was the first team to 21 aces.

There’s no need to remove the mound. Moving it back or lowering it a bit (like they did in the 60s) might be worthwhile.
