Alright, my optimistic side has something to say: I Charles Barkley guarantee ...

Leafs in 5 for Johnny TDot

I guess they set up this story because they knew they were getting hammered by people because I thought it was handled pretty horribly.

Hockey is the world’s greatest sport, but the NHL is the world’s dumbest league.

I was half expecting Foligno to break his hand on Perry’s helmet in that fight.
Kinda hard to top mlb with the pitchers throwing at ppl. But NHL is up to the challenge

The fight was silly/unnecessary/dumb, whatever, but I don't get why so much is being made of it really.

He asked Perry to go, Perry went, it was a nothing fight.

It ended up being a nothing burger but Foligno could have easily injured his hand and further depleted your roster. I wouldn’t confuse the benign outcome with the dumbass process.

Don't really care if fighting went away altogether tbh and certainly the code stuff is eye-roll inducing.

But some of the stuff being said about it is just an overreaction. No, it wasn't more upsetting than watching Tavares struggling to stay conscious. No, Foligno isn't a "disgrace to the game" like the Habs fans on HFboards are ranting about. Definitely a silly part of hockey culture though.

To be clear, I ain’t defending the reaction on HF, haven’t been on that site in over a decade.

The entire logic behind that structure though is that there is no functional difference between a 1-2 million dollar player at the beginning or end of their career and a 2-4 million dollar player in the middle of their career. If your 1-2 million dollar (ELC and greybeard) players aren't producing, you failed in your evaluation. Basically, if you need to spend a bunch of money on Paul Byron's, you fucked up.

The difference in last night's game offensively (aside from the obvious of our PPG #2 centre being out) was one of their overpaid bottom 6 players performing, and our entire supporting staff swinging and missing hard. Matthews-Nylander-Marner are good for about 1.5 goals per game. We got 1 out of them last night. Where the **** was everyone else? Getting fucking buried for the most part.
I’m not arguing against our structure, I do think it’s the best way to go. A fluky injury that potentially puts a star player out of the playoffs is not normal. Just stating the obvious in saying it hurts when said player goes down compared to if you had 2 players at 5.5M(spent wisely) in that situation.

Thankfully he’s fine above the neck. I had a feeling he was. Hopefully no concussion symptoms follow now but if he had one I think the symptoms would show immediately. So he’s out because of the knee but that lets him recover surely some soreness in the head area too.

This news should propel the guys to take the series, the exact reverse of how his seeming deadly injury took them out of game 1. I’m feeling good now. Maybe Simmonds will give Perry a slightly less mild back massage tonight and earn a few dollars of that salary finally.
