Habs, Suzuki agree to eight-year, $63 million extension - TSN.ca
The Montreal Canadiens and centre Nick Suzuki have agreed to an eight-year, $63 million contract extension with an average annual value of $7.875 million.
Could backfire big timeA bit rich for one good half season, but it has the potential to be a bargain in a few years. It could also backfire.
It's a good deal and after the KK incident had to be done.Seems kinda high in my mind.
Highly unlikely.Could backfire big time
He’s well on his way to becoming a very good no. 1 center . . . . just not a Matthews, McDavid or Crosby.Could it backfire? Sure it could.
But it also could have gotten much more expensive had we waited. Who knows, maybe Suzuki has an offensive breakout season (I think he'll end up as a 60ish point player if all goes well) and the ask is no longer $7.8M but $9M.
Regardless, there was no other choice. He's our top center, and while he isn't a #1 center, he's a #2 center on virtually any team in the league not named Pittsburgh and Toronto.
