Yeah, the potential is there, but they're already pencilling in Joe Thornton as their #3C. That's...uhhh...not good.

Their top 4 defenders are real gud. Barkov and Huby are real gud. They will go as far as Reinhart, Bennett, Verhaege, Hornqvist, Duclair and of course their goaltending, takes them.

Canucks originally dealt one of those defenseman to the Black Hawks for a guy that couldn't skate at the NHL level because....reasons. ;) To be fair, he (Forsling) was an undersized late draft pick (5th round?) at the time. Black Hawks later dealt him to Carolina (he couldn't crack their deep blueline & was put on waivers; Florida claims him (probably as a result of coach Q's recommendation) & get an asset for free).

An incredible disconnect between the amateur & professional scouting on the Canucks. Granted, a good chunk of drafting is often luck & the Canucks have had their share of it lately (good luck).

this analysis is spot on, although I am pretty high on Knight.
 
Hockey in Canada has been stuck in how to cover the game for the last 50 years. Aside from HD and changing the score/clock at the top - not really much going on. (Aside from the issues of who they pick to be on these broadcasts etc)

They really need to get with the times.
 
they're covering the game for small town Canada -- hence the emphasis on Kraft Hockeyville and other small town programming where a chunk of players were born

Yeah, do they ever jerk small town Canada off with both hands. It's 10-15% of the country ffs. I have way more in common with an American from a major urban centre than I do with a Canadian from Lumsden Saskatchewan.

ESPN might save the NHL despite themselves.
