Pausing the schedule will be an absolute last resort. Everything else will be tried before going there. More likely: A return to much tougher protocols, reminiscent of last year’s incredibly challenging 2020 season — mask-wearing at all times, staying at home/in your hotel away from the rink. No restaurants, movie theatres, team parties, you name it. Teams moving from testing every three days to testing every day.

were they planning on an Olympic break? if so can use that time to reschedule covid cancellations. assuming NHLers do not go to Beijin at present.

Scrap the Olympics , a take a 2 week break and hope you get this shit under control

Doubt it's that easy...most arenas would have booked their venues for other revenue generating groups (concerts, etc). Who knows if any of it will actually happen, but my guess is it'll be a 2 week break in the NHL schedule, and the games will benefit greatly from it (players come back rested, recharged, and the stretch run will be awesome hockey).
