there are legs to the volume argument but we do need perspective on that. Cases are probably 10x peak and hospitalizations are going to be between 1-1.5x (and really, not unmanageable because of anything inherent in the disease, but because of our own longstanding capacity issues).
Actually... The original press release said 1 million pills but I think it might be 1 million courses. Even better!50,000 should be alright to protect the olds.
BeleaferMAGA brother has been spamming family chat about this "mass formation psychosis" bullshit. and doing it unironically, funnily enough. where did this come from again??
you omitted the part where he said code reds aren’t rare and a multi year issue b

Well, you already covered that, so why quote that part too? I quoted the part where you put words in his mouth and said it wasn't a covid thing when he clearly states it's a covid thing that was a thing but a lesser thing before covid.
i was talking about us seeing code reds. It’s exacerbated by covid but this isn’t because of covid as it was happening pretty frequently before covid.
We’re constrained but we have a much better handle on how to treat people and don’t have 3 ventilators. So there are issues but right now it’s not as dire as it was.1.5x of what almost broke our shit 2 years ago, is still breaking our shit.
What's going to suck after this is some random nut job will run of fiscal responsibility and completely ignore the necessary investment we need in health care and education infrastructure. One thing I'll say is that while our hospitals can handle a lot less than many other countries, this problem isn't limited to here. There are very few hospitals across the world that aren't complete chaos.
A nice piece here that I read today:

Opinion | As an E.R. Doctor, I Fear Health Care Collapse More Than Omicron (Published 2022)
The Omicron wave is different from March 2020, but it’s still serious.www.nytimes.com

Yeah just because there were issues before it doesn't mean the issues aren't worse now. We're in the "sit back and hope that the worst will be over soon" phase of the pandemic. Problem is immunity isn't sterilizing with any coronavirus so I'm not sure why anyone thinks this is the final leg of the pandemic? Hopefully it's the worst of it tho because it's not great seeing all-time highs in hospitalizations at this stage. Very weird to see people spin omicron as a positive thing tbh. Only positive thing is that our immunity/vaccines are working fantastic but that doesn't change the amount of transmission. We also have PTSD'd out staff now. I think you're kidding yourself if you don't think this is the most dire it's been with the health care system.
There has to be a better way to do this... This isn't fair to anyone.
