The Fucking Season Thread - Redemption Tour '22

5v5 - 11th in GF% with a bottom feeding 29th sv% tells me scoring depth is not an issue

Lowest in the top 10 GF% is .917

Jays are actually treated fine for the most part. Maybe even too nicely tbh.

But it's a plain fact that the Raps and Leafs continually perform much better than experts project, and that they never get the same treatment as similar quality teams.
helps when one of the main sports media companies also owns the team

Not sure what the objection is...Flames look to be a much better playoff-type squad than either the Leafs or Edmonton, and Sutter beats the pants off greenhorn Keefer at head coach.

Put all the nonsense aside, and Calgary has a much easier path. So their odds should be better, really.
100%. Path is huge.

I was just laughing at the analysis of the Leafs. If you showed me that without telling me which team they were talking about I think I would think he was talking about Chicago or Philly or something. "Good offence from their top 6 forwards, but only in the regular season, and everything else is a weakness."

I basically have *no* objection to no one picking the Leafs, just think some of the reasons listed are well, silly.

Another thing that would make some Leafs success sweet is that the old boys exec club across the league absolutely despise Kyle. They are threatened by him and his methodologies and probably his good looks too. Nothing would be worse for them to see him have success. So they hate him, they fuck with him, they talk shit about him, etc. I get it and I'm not even mad at them. I'd probably do the same in their position. But that's just more fuel to ignite my passion. It'll be a rewarding experience if they ever get over the hump.

People don't want to admit it but they have a good team this year. Deepest we have seen in a long time. A few flaws but with Jack look like he has returned to his normal self, there is no reason they cant give Tampa a good run. Tough task but they match up well

reading between the lines, I'd surmise the Leafs maybe aren't scaring too many outside of Matthews and Marner. that's what the "depth" comments read like to me .. ie, "aside from their top guys"

Their top 9 forwards put up a combined 557 points in 636 games. The depth comments are dumb. Florida has more forward depth than them though I guess.
