axl gets Forumice Leaf fan media/ref whine notifications on his mobile device. I thought we all learned this by now but I guess not! I'm genuinely afraid to comment on those topics because my man is ruthless, even though I probably lean a LITTLE more towards his side than the others on the topic. Though there is a lot of joy brought to many in the media when the Leafs suck ass, understandably. And game management is worth whining about because it reduces the quality of the games.
Or maybe just everyone hates Toronto including the league and the refs and there is an ongoing conspiracy against them across all major sports. That's probably more likely.
I think many in the Leafs media are afraid of being impartial in fears of being called homers by the hecklers out there. I see SOME fanboying come out sometimes even from people like Kevin McGran but it's quickly scaled back. You see some obnoxiously blind homer shit from the media across the league but it's not really tolerated in Toronto. Part of it is that they haven't earned anything and the other part is that a lot of the media feels that there is some sort of expectation of them to be really even-keeled so they end up over-compensating.
I think.

Raps is a lack of visibility. The media guys that I respect pumped their tires quite a bit before the season began. The guys who didn't couldn't name 5 players on their roster. That's just life as the only Canadian team in the NBA. Talking about the Raps in the US doesn't pay the bills.
I'm interested to see how much the narrative shifts if the Leafs go on a bit of a run this year. A lot of the league-wide lack of enthusiasm on them is a result of losing to Columbus and Montreal in the last two years. If they were the Oilers we'd be on their asses too, though if I saw how good they looked this year I'd be shitting myself. Now it's time to earn the respect of the media, if that truly matters to them (it doesn't).
Their #5 d won the Norris 3 years ago. #nodepththe models and the eye testers never align on them
Imagine thinking depth either forward or d is a problem with this team. 4th line is the weakest link
My theory is that it's a shot at their all around games. "They're dangerous OFFENSIVELY buttttttttttttttttt.........."LOL to the entire analysis but my fave is "offensively dangerous"...is there another type of danger provided by a team's top 6?

I see this often but I'm not sure I agree with it. if any team loses their best forward or best d they're in trouble. Leafs can suffer multiple blows to their D and still get by I think. Up front would be a bigger challenge but if they lose Matthews they'll unfortunately have to be carried by Nylander, Marner, Tavares and Bunting. I don't think many other teams are in the same boat with that sort of secondary weaponry. There is one thing I’m wondering with how this team has been assembled. Injuries are more likely in the playoffs both based on how it’s called and the fact that a shit ton of hockey has been played. If one of our big money men get injured it then will effect our roster more than many others. Could this be a flawed approach?
