Leafs acquire Matt Murray

Sure...but also, if we get .890 goaltending next season, one additional decent forward isn't going to matter.
One additional .890 goalie will matter even less.

I may or may not have mentioned before that our real problem is scoring. Cheap out on the backup and get someone with potential like Samsonov, and pour every other dollar into forwards. And trade Muzz for more.

Just woke from a horrible nightmare.... Matthews was walked to free agency by the leafs to play with Connor and drai in Edmonton lol.

Oh, you've mentioned it. You're just wrong regardless of how many time you repeat your argument.

Yes, the team that was 2nd in the league in goals last season but 22nd in goaltending has an obvious goal scoring problem.
True, but a goalie with concussion issues may not move the needle from 22

Now if we were #1 in goal scoring…

Please just focus on elimination games where we can’t buy a goal from the forwards, despite good enough goaltending to win. It may be more informative than regular season stats.

Please. I’ve listed out the performance of the offense and goaltending in elimination games going back to the start of this era. You and the rest can keep denying that losing 2-1 and 3-1 is a goalie problem.

Appears glasses put a lot of faith in Jon Elkin with this one due to his history with Murray

Trusting your job in another person is ballsy

Murray mysteries:

- why wasn't there a third team involved for retention?
- why did this trade happen before UFA Wednesday?
- why only 25% retention from OTT?

From Ottawa's perspective, a buy-out would have cost $10mil, over 4 seasons, a savings of $5mil.

We've let them off the hook for $12mil, at the cost of effectively a 3rd rounder. Seems like we should have held out for 50% at that price, or received a lot more in picks/prospects.

Feels like at least a 2nd++ should have been coming back the other way for only 25% retention. Huge risk, potentially big reward, big balls move by Dubas.

this is not a big balls move - he trapped himself and this is the reaction to not being able over 3-4 off-seasons to fix our net.
