so you don't really concern yourself with the state of the Dubas' marriage other than to acknowledge it was likely a factor in him having second thoughts?

and you likewise don't really concern yourself with the details of Kyle's counteroffer beyond it being unreasonable? do you think it was intended to be rejected?
 
Dubas isn't some inexperienced dummy who was in front of the media for the first time in his life after a playoff disappointment.

He's a smart guy, he made a calculated move with the family disclosure, and it blew up in his face.

Simple as that.

That's a misconception imo

As an employer it's about maximizing productivity and if there's excessive distractions or the boss even feels that there is then they start looking.

You have to remember that it costs a lot to train someone in higher end fields. There's technical aspects with SOP, systems and IT that take some time to grasp. Employees forget that most bosses are leveraged and need to make a certain amount, immediately people think it's greed. It's not.

Bosses have to weigh the emotional capital versus the bottom line. That's not a kumbaya moment.

And you already stated your opinion earlier that it likely didn't have anything to do with the wife. Was that from not knowing her?

I'm not trying to be a dick, it's the hypocrisy that triggers my mind. It doesn't add up.

I mean you describe him as a smart guy but also your theory is that this smart guy did something really fucking dumb out of... greed? ego? And made it most of the way through his press conference without specifically about the thing he scheduled it to talk about? I'm not buying it.

Also, from everything you've seen and heard from Dubie you really think he's the type of person to schedule a press conference so he can (convincingly) pretend to get emotional and straight up make up a family issue to then use as leverage for more money? You must think highly of his acting skills and lowly of his humanity and integrity.

Stress is a real thing and people can only handle so much of it without any impact. Everyone has their breaking point. Sure looks like he had reached his.

I mean you can characterize it how you wish but I don't think the considerations ultimately change.

I don't think it's controversial to say that most business owners care more about the success of the business than any individual employee, especially if said employee poses a risk to the business due to being unable to perform for whatever reasons.
 
You're basically saying he used his family as a shield and anyone that truly trusts and loves their significant other would walk away from someone that does that unless you're purporting it was all calculated by the two of them.

I believe him that the stress on his family life was a big factor, because that's just the truth about this market, but i don't think Dubas said anything to make it seem like his wife was literally about to leave him or anything that dramatic. I think the thing he said that was actually the clearest and truest was his kids getting shit on at school. That's awful and i'm 100% it's true.

The only thing about the contract that might be relevant is that there was a last minute change that was apparently out of line with their previous weeks worth of discussions, which would be a little insulting. I don't know how much mlse cares about a mil or two to an exec. Was it intended to be rejected? I'm not sure why he'd bother with that kind of tactic. Why not just say "I'm out"? I dunno that it makes any difference anyways just seems like fun storytime to me.

Dude really?

Controversial? It's their livelihood. I always thought of employees families and livelihood. You have to balance bottom line and HR.

A business fails and 20 families are affected and it's wrong to ensure viability? You need to look at this from more than one lens man.
