I'm actually with him here. There's no centers available.

And while i love the hockey nerds, i'm still fine betting on them still not accounting properly for two things in particular - the value of Cs over Ws, and the effect of super duper extreme tough usage like what Kampf gets (this applies to extre usage D too).

If there's a bottom 6 type to moderately overpay for i'd bet on this type.

If they start overpaying for bottom 6 wingers with mediocre usage then i'll be much more upset.
 
Feels like if ROR is wanting to return, and his number isn't stupid, it would've been better to put the $2.4M towards him instead of bringing back Kampf at this price. And then you still have Holmberg as your cheap 4C.

Or using this 1.8 (800K for whoever Kampf isnt) to help bridge your AAV gap with Nylander.
 
Unfortunately ROR not signing yet would indicate he's pretty pricey. If he's in the 5m range let's go but if it's the 7m range no.
 
Even the $5M range is dicey because you know it's not going to be for 2-3 years.

ROR making $5M or $6M in 4-5 years from now, maybe even 3 years from now, is gonna be one ugly albatross.

Yeah probs. But you're hoping for a big cap raise by then and ROR would still only by 35 by then.
 
Kampf doesn’t really prevent them from doing much, other than signing other expensive depth players instead of Kampf (Reaves, Acciari, schenn etc) they still have $18 ish mill in space.
 
Considering how much talent they need to force out i can see Calgary or Winnipeg super paying a guy like ROR in the 3 x 6-7 range, cause for Western Canadian reasons they refuse to rebuild.
 
They should look at Scheifele as a rental, sounds like there isn’t much interest. He is garbage defensively but he’s a hell of an offensive player.
